From The Book of Questions by Gregory Stock.

Question #76: One hot summer afternoon, while walking through a parking lot at a large shopping center, you notice a dog suffering badly from the heat inside a locked car. What would you do?

I'd tell someone in the store it was in front of, but I'd also probably call the police.
I don't know if the police are responsible for that, but if I have to - I'll break the window and the police can come handle that 8u

I would first try to talk to someone in the store, then I would break the window and call the cops. I don't want the dog suffering any longer than it already did. And it could easily take the cops 15 minutes or longer to get to my location. What if the dog didn't have that long? The faster the better.

Ditto on what everyone said; tell someone in the store to page the owner out, and then call SPCA rather than police first.

Yeah, the SPCA would be faster at responding for a poor overheated puppy than the cops would.

Try to find the owner, then call authorities of some kind.

Knowing how impulsive I can be, I'd probably smash the window. Save the dog first and figure the rest out later

This was NOT the hot dog question I expected. I had fully expected to explain that I'm not a big fan unless it's slathered in chili and cheese. Lol.

Like most of the rest here, I'd report it to a staff member in the store and if that didn't get results I'd call 911 even though I am uncertain if 911 ops deal with animal emergencies because if not I have no idea who does.

To those breaking the window, how are you doing it? Are you assuming you bought something hard enough in the store or being hella bold and using your bare fists?

I am absolutely NOT strong enough to do the latter, unfortunately. I could honestly use some weight lifting.

oh god i just opened this thread because i had hot dogs for lunch and yeah this was not what i was expecting either hahaha.

i wouldn't hesitate breaking the window if i wasn't too weak to do it. i'm not assuming i have something useful in hand. so, realistically speaking, i think in this situation i would call the emergency number too. they'll know who deals with this kind of stuff, but i'm half-sure the firemen do
