You Should

As an artist, I've been told "You should have been a tattoo artist!" and "You should write children's books!"

Tattoos are awesome and I admire tattoo artists, but my hands shake really bad, so I couldn't be one.

I have zero interest in writing books for kids and my art really isn't for kids?

What have you been told by people when they see you're an artist?

"You should draw something for me." is the most common one. Majority of people have zero insight into job opportunities or communities for artists so tattoos, child books and selling fine art in gallery are usually only things they can think of.

"Draw something for me!" Usually expected to be free.

Um, no. I don't do freebies except at Free Comic Book Day, and those aren't usually up to my normal standards, because I try to draw 'em quickly.

If people want art, they have to pay artists.

Tbh I mostly got comments when I was younger, but it was usually 'you should be an illustrator!' or 'Can you draw this for me?' - smh I drew so much free stuff when I was younger :mcheh: but I rarely show my art in rl now except my friends who are super sweet with their comments
