From The Book of Questions by Gregory Stock.

Question #103: Does the fact that you have never done something before increase or decrease its appeal to you?

Huh. I suppose that would depend on other things, but in general, I think trying something I've never done before would appeal more.

It depends on what it is for me also. Like I'm not going to be very likely to try certain kinds of foods, but very likely to try others. I'm also not going to try an amusement park ride that flips and twists too much, but I do like spinning (as long as it's not upside-down, so I'd try a ride like that. I do enjoy going to new places most of the time, as long as it's not the seedy side of town.

It depends on what it is.

As an artist, I've pretty much stuck to stuff I'm used to. But sometimes I try to do stuff I've never tried just because I've never tried it. I like the challenge.

There's stuff I haven't done before, but mostly because I have no interest ._.

Depends on what it is, what mood I'm in, and if the stars align themselves just in that right position. Well, the last one's a bit of a joke but the other conditions still stand. Like, this booth at a festival in my hometown has elk, alligator and deer jerky that I might try, but they also have suckers with bugs inside which I will shy from. If I don't feel good (be it illness or just down in the dumps), there's less of a chance of me trying some new dish when all I want is something homey and cozy that I'm comfortable with. And sometimes, if I'm hesitant, there's also a chance to convince me to try something new.

Depends on the situation and the thing, tbph.

It would really depend on whether failure matters or not. If it does, decrease. If it doesn't? Increase or neither.

Same as pretty much everyone says: depends on what it is. I've never tried smoking and I'm not planning to. Not because of some sort of strong belief but simply because it does not appeal to me. I am, however, generally a very curious person when it comes to food, so unless it contains something I know I don't like, I'm more likely to try new food for the sake of trying new food rather than stick with something I know.

Having anxiety, I'd say it would decrease the odds. However, just like most people here, it does depend on what it is.
