personally im not much of a dog person, they just don't really fit my personality and my lifestyle. they're such a big responsibility. i feel like they require much more commitment than a cat. all pets require a lot of care and attention, don't get me wrong. i take having a pet very seriously, and independently of what pet i had i would give them everything they need and beyond. but dogs need to be walked, they often need to get groomed professionally and they're much more energetic than cats. and i clearly do not have that energy. even the most energetic cat doesn't stand a chance against a dog from my experience. i may change my mind down the road and encounter a dog that fits my personality. but for now i'll pass. i have to admit though some dogs are the cutest mfs. that i cannot deny.

i guess we humans just like the company of pets that reflect more who we are, and that behave in ways that are familiar to us and make us comfortable. it's curious tho, how most people have a preference for either dogs or cats.

I like dogs too! i agree a big dog would make me feel safer and i'd totally get one if i ever had the chance to own a big house maybe with a garden. but right now what i can afford is renting a small apartment, and cats go really well with that
i don't know why but i feel like a dog would somehow require a bigger space while a cat could live well in the two room apartment with a balcony i can afford, but it might be totally senseless unfortunately, i don't own cats either and i don't even understand how people who rent get cats. what if i leave a super energetic kitten alone for a couple hours and it destroys the sofa? who's gonna give me my deposit back
but i will surely adopt a cat when i finish studying and become financially independent! (if i ever do,, haha)

I'm content with my air plants, but I do like cats and dogs. even if I am allergic to them.

that's so cool. do you mean a job more like grooming, training, animal protection or like full on becoming a vet?
they're all pretty nice jobs. i know one of my cousins has been obsessed with becoming a vet since she was very little, but i think she opted out of that because of the amount of studies and such (she's grown to be not a very academic person )

plants are a truly amazing alternative. since i moved out, i've been slowly collecting plants and i plan to make my apartment full of houseplants just like my old house in poland. for now i only have a few small ones. i really really want one of those plants with big leaves.
