Thank you! <3 Will need to make another avatar soon. ;-D

Dunno, I do think that teens nowadays have way more knowledge, those phone's, we also had bullying online through msn messenger, or at least it was possible if you were able to get a pc in the library or some time for it at home. I'm honestly sad to see that the kids in my boys class almost all have their own phone. They don't come up with fun stuff anymore. Even with the time I allow them to play at home, when they get home, plump on the couch, play a bit and after dinner favourite passtime would be plumping again on the couch in front of the tv... >.< They don't have the chance to get bored and actually get creative unfortunately. :( Kinda sad.

My boys did decorate the living room for Christmas. And they do help a bit in the weekend and usually they'll help when we ask, sometimes after nagging for 30 minutes, buuut guess that's part of the game?

Lego's are always good. But my parents saved everything, so 2 years ago when they sold the house, everything just turned up. My stuff and my brother's stuff. My son and my nephews are all reading old Donald Ducks, a darda track (race track) from my brother turned up which was last years Christmas gift, we already have Quadro, which is a kinda large set to build with, life size stuff to climb on or ride with. Soo, sometimes it's hard to figure out new things.

The surprise tradition is actually more a tradition for the adults, the kids get their gift from St nick, then when they're 8 and above they'll start with it, but the slightly naughty poems that go with it are best with adults. =D

Instead of the word "knowledge" I would have used the word "information".
They do have access to it, yes, but they don't know how to use it. And often just use it all wrong.
Think sex education. We used to have none at all, and we were quite oblivious to so much stuff. Now they have all the information in the world... and instead of learning something, they turn to porn as a reference source *facepalm*

And, yeah, they have a phone from such early ages.
At least in my country, kids before 14 can't have a phone to their name. Still parents buy them one and let them use it freely and without any kind of control :|

Yeah, they already have so much stuff to begin with that it's hard buying them anything else...
And books, mine also inherited a ton of books!

Naughty poems! Oh, that's quite a thing, then. >:D

But when parents encourage bad behaviours, well, you've just bought all the tickets ¬¬

A knife to school!
Damn it, that's really bad shit.
yeah if parents don't do their job and teach there kids right from wrong 9 times out of 10 the kid will be bad. but yeah not always, my aunt and uncle's daughter is proof of that, her brother might be a horrible human, but she is not, shes pretty much a sweet heart.

Yeah, you can't really be 100% sure, but the odds are clear.

Arrgggh, someone recommended a webcomic in the forum and I've been binge-reading like crazy.
I had some leisure time but I did not get to the forums at all, I was that absorbed.

Oh, what was the comic?

I ordered the paper a few months ago, I receive it once a week, but considering to go back to online. I do scroll through the news, but the paper, though loving it to slow down, it feels like a commitment, like I have to read. XD

Books are great, but my kids read other books than I did. :mcheh: I didn't mind old letter types and whatnot, my kids on the other hand really like the comic styles better...

:>

Guess information is indeed the better word. And naughty as in, it's very likely to mention a nasty habit. If you want to point out something annoying they do to a someone, St. Nicks poem is the perfect time for it. xD Without it getting really nasty. :>

Our house phone is a mobile, 'cause me with stoopid "never use it anymore" canceled the old wired phone. Soo, they play on it, but I maxed the time and try to check what they do.

Considering buying the "real" minecraft for the boys for Christmas though, they like playing fake versions, but those stink (I think) with commercials, ads and whatnot. Not showing anything isn't the way either, 'cause mentioned before, all the kids have phones, play games and with the digital hour they get in school, they'll learn more & more. I'd like to give at least a nudge in the directions I like of the internet...

The Remarried Empress.
Really enjoyed it.
Whenever I have the time I'll start reading the novel, because it's way ahead and I really would like reading more.

I'm not completely against phones for younger users.
But I'm against unsupervised use of phones for younger users.
You can let a kid use a phone, as long as you know what he's doing with it...

For example, I'm all onboard for videogames.
I've always enjoyed them myself, I see no harm in them as long as they are age-appropiate.

Oh, I've decided to get my son a cushion
Our local nerd store makes some very cute ones, I think he'd love a Pokemon one.

Those are cute! :)

I've been considering to sew something, but I cannot think of something cool to make. The hats I knitted last year were deemed to be not cool, lol. At least, that's what the middle one told me. :>

I'm a bit on the fence with videogames, I loved them, and I feel like I played them way too much. xD That's why I'm more strict with the kiddo's. My husband on the other hand never had any interest in video games, still doesn't have it and he doesn't care. I think that's not the best thing. There's so much crap online. :>

They're already considering throwing together their pocket money to buy Minecraft. Kinda support that. ;-)

I can't really sew.
My skills go as far as mending, that's pretty much it.
But if I could sew I would definetely be making stuff for my son all the time - at his age he still appreciates anything mom makes for him :mccute:

I did play videogames way too much, because I always overdo everything ^^;
So I suppose I expect my son to be the same way, but that he also learns to self-limit his time?
Not yet, he's only 7, so we have agreed on a limited screen time (any screen, if he watches tv he can't play later, it's one thing or the other) but on the long run I hope he finds his balance.

My husband never cared about videogames either, I think he simply does not get why other people like them xD

That's cool, learning to save up to spend for something one really wants is great.

Back from skiing, it was fun! :D

Today we're baking "oliebollen" and "appelbeignets". First time for those applethingies, but they're awesome. <3 Used nutmeg, cardemom, cinnamon and cloves to spice up the sugar to sugar the apples a bit and it tastes awesome. :)

Happy new year in advance! :D Hope you're enjoying the holidays!

Also as for screens, my 6 year old can easily find something else, he's often doing something for himself, crafting or whatever, but those older brothers, they cannot seem to think of anyting else anymore... :mcheh: Sometimes kinda annoying that we always have to come up with other ideas, but they're frying outside now with Dutch party music. XD
