I was a...different child, I guess. One that typically enjoyed stuff I wasn't supposed to know about that young xD;

I mean, I'm pretty much numb to most things horror-related.
I don't scare easy. The only thing that scares me is people.

That's cute :3

He's very sensitive.
Which is cute indeed, but sometimes I worry about him...

I was and still am sensitive. I got mocked when I was a kid because people would call me a crybaby and yell at me to stop crying, as if that works.

I guess I was too.
I have memories of my parents hiting me cause I was crying "for no reason".
They would say "now you do have a reason for crying" or something in that line.

I suppose I learned to not be so sensitive, at least it seems so from outside, so it kinda "worked".
But that's definetely not what I want for my son.

Yeah, I've heard that many times xD
Also, since I had depression - I'd cry a lot.
I'd get yelled at and told I had nothing to be sad about because people have it worse than me.

So growing up, I associated being sensitive with being weak and it being wrong to be like that.
Unfortunately or fortunately - I'm still sensitive.
I consider myself to be an Empath.
A lot of people these days are OVERsensitive u8

Crying is one of the body's methods of release. it's natural, and fuck anyone who shames you for it.

There is also no hierarchy of suffering. Anyone who says you shouldn't feel bad "Because other people have it worse" can fuck right off.

I'm sorry y'all had to deal with that bullshit.

I don't think nowadays people are oversensitive.
They are just less resilient, because other people have always solved their issues for them and they haven't learned to face them.

Imho crying is ok. Feeling sad is ok. Feeling overwhelmed is ok. Feeling enraged is ok.
Crying to someone in hope they do this or that for you, that's a developed habit. One which is not ok.

I heard "Don't be so sensitive!" a LOT growing up. Makes me wanna go "Did you ask the bullies to not be so mean?" to people.

Also I do not think that's helpful at all.

Don't be so sensitive.
Don't be down.
Don't be so fat.
Don't be so slow.

That's kind of criticism does not work. At all.

Speaking as someone who was relentlessly bullied until I left for college? Absolutely does NOT help. Instead of teaching kids not to be bullying little shits, the school district I was in punished the kids being bullied for finally having enough and reacting. I have a big horror story from back then...and I still struggle with letting it remain in the past.

Because I had a meltdown due to my personal space repeatedly being violated by one of my classmates, my teacher forced me to stand outside the double-wide that was our classroom every day until she'd arrive. Regardless of weather or season. My classmates tried to let me in the classroom one, and got in trouble for it.

This happened when I was 10/11. I'm 35. Doesn't matter that it was 24/25 years ago. I still carry that trauma to this day. Yes, I'm working on it in therapy, but it's hard.
