Horseradish comes in a tube if you buy it in the supermarket ^^
Most wasabi you find outside of Japan is actually dyed horseradish.

As for trains it could be a daily occurence if I wanted (but, you know, people).

I've ridden my fair share of high speed trains in various countries but my most memorable experience was an overnight train in Egypt. It's very uncomfortable to sleep but it's also something you will never forget.

Trains are my favourite means of travel.
It's comfortable, you can get up and walk a bit, and go to the toilet or drink/eat something in the bar.

I would usually bring food with me, because you never know what they'll be offering - usually just sandwiches and snacks.
But I'll go to the cafeteria anyway if only to walk a bit longer, and drink something.

My last time was two years ago, on december 2019, before the pandemic stroke my country.
I travelled with my husband and son, and the little one loved watching a movie in the train.

That all said, I've never been to a touristic train trip, I think they did something along the lines of the Orient Express which must be great!

The Orient Express is on my bucket list.
I know someone who did it and he said it was one of the best experience of his life.

Right now though even if I did ride trains the cafeteria is closed anyway. It's a bit sad, there's one we would ride every year at this season and they have a ramen bar but of course even if we rode it's closed so we gave up on our short trip.

That is sad!
There's a lot of little food stalls that are gone now which I used to really enjoy stopping at...

I suppose change is inevitable, with life, but I can mourn it sometimes anyhow. :P

The guy had to go from France to Shanghai and thought why not and ended up going there by train.
I envy him as well.

I have never made such a long trip in my entire life, not by train nor any other means of transportation.
It must be exhausting but soooo exciting.

Did he mention how the border crossings worked? I'm really curious how those were handled!

I do somehow remember that he said the train was stopped and officers came on board to check but I'm honestly not sure anymore.

It would not surprise me, that's how it worked in all Europe before the EU became a thing.
I remember travelling by bus to Portugal, and also from Spain to Germany, and that's exactly what they did.
There was a point at which every car and bus had to stop, you waited until your turn, then your officers entered and quickly checked everyone's documentation - and something else if there was any suspicion - and then moved on.
