Realized some people will literally hold anything over your head, even if it was $20 from 5 years ago, acting like time hasn't continued ticking on. I spent most of our interaction laughing at the thought, and wanting to be petty and rude like she was. But I decided to not tell her how great my life is, and let her have these outdated ideas about my life would be way more rewarding.

Sometimes the best retort to these difficult people is simply the knowledge that you're doing amazing and they're stuck in the sad past
