I'm not much into romance stories, but damn it you are so enthusiastic that you make me want to read them!


Yesterday I went to a presentation of a new editorial, one of the founders worked with me last year.
Pretty amazing. They are focused on fantasy, science fiction and terror in Galician language, and their books have such lovely quality for covers, paper, etc.
So I bought two of their books for teenagers (one is fantasy, the other one sci-fi) hoping my son might like them, and also the translation of Philip K. Dick's Ubik. Just because.

I do enjoy heavy fantasy stories, with unique magic systems and all the different character development.

Ok, the other day I went to the presentation of a new publishing company - I know one of the editors.
It's dedicated to fantasy, sci-fi and horror, and only publishes in Galicia.
So I grabbed some of their books.

They have a line for younger readers.
"Your first book of epic fantasy", "Your first book of sci-fi" and so on.
Bought those two, hoping my son will sometime feel like reading these genres.
And I actually read the first one, which is a little epic adventure but also based on Galician myths and that's quite cute.
Not much of a read for me (lasted only 2 days) but it was great for their intended audience.

I finished Dragonwyck. I liked it. The end was pretty different from the movie.

I started reading The Dare and the Doctor by Kate Noble.

And I started reading Katherine by Anya Seton, which is the same author who wrote Dragonwyck.

Yes, it's pretty awesome indeed.
That collection includes 6 titles so far, the two I mentioned plus:
- your first novel of pirates
- your first novel of knighthood
- your first novel of magic
- your first novel of the wild west

Also the artist who draws the illustrations for this series was a classmate of one of my best friends, I knew him in college - but never kept any kind of contact, we were just acquitances - and I find his style awesome for this collection.


This is the one about Galician myths; that horse is said to bring those who ride them to the world of the death - to never return.

Nice, now I really need to dive into it more xD

Yeah, unfortunately this collection is written in Galician, so the language barrier is there - otherwise I would definetely recommend it!

I'm falling behind in my GR challenge, because once again I'm not reading much.
And this weekend felt like reading manga, so my current book (an approach on feminism workgroups in high school) has been neglected a bit.

i'm falling behind my good reads challenge too! D: idk why they chose to stick "5 books behind" on the challenge. it stresses me out lol

I'm slowly reading the book about runes. I should read it more often to finish it faster. It's not that long after all. Shame on me.
