Hmm.... shumi wa terebi gemu wo shite forumu de role play shite takusan nemasu. Urusai hito to berry mono to suppai mono to biiru to kowaii otaku to ------ sensei to hazukashii moments nado kirai desu.

Wow... my thinking is totally opposite of yours. I like sharing in interests because I like bonding over them...I like connecting with people. It's true that some fandoms (like Naruto) can come with really crazy fanpeoples attached, but I can ignore bad comments; no biggie. I like talking to other fans about it; really good stuff happens sometimes, and when fillers come in, we can complain about it together. I even like talking to the little kiddies about it (I'm such a bad influence for introducing them to the series in the first place. v__v; This is why people shouldn't ask me to baby sit.)

Hmm... I don't watch much TV... What do you watch, Waltz? House and Bones... sometimes the Simpsons and Friends... that's all I really watch. I'm not really a fan of beer either... though I do like drinking. I'm going drinking next Tuesday. *__* <3 Sake and sushi, anyone? XD;

Maybe I'm to old, but I cannot understand the trouble about this scene oO. I just want to learn the language and a bit about culture, not more, not less. I wish I could do this in Japanese.. and rly don't know what more to say
yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

Well.. may I ask u something? Some of u r learning by themselfs, don't they? How do u learn grammatic, kanji and these things? Books, Friends, something else? I want a teacher for these things, but would like to learn something before starting class, because I can start it in a year earliest... and I still don't know if I rly should try to learn these language oO

Edit: ahh... Walz.. I just understood RPG Forum xD

Edit 2: looked for a japanese class... it would be 80 euro/semester, 2 hours away, and hard to get a place in there.. the next starting one isn't possible for me, because it's at the same time as my IT-classes.. looks like it will stay a dream oO

Wow, an anime > manga person? I could understand why, but I don't meet many of those. XD I'm not sure how much you can learn with us, since the sensei are still students.

I learned from a sensei...but that was many years ago... I have to relearn everything because I'm just that forgetful. XD; *headdesk*

Waltz likes to be confusing sometimes. Don't worry, you'll get used to it. I just guessed and commented on what I could.

Ah... I guess they don't have many classes in your area... That's too bad, but you never know about the future. It's not hard to self teach though. My sensei usually had me listen to tapes all day and study from my book. He was just there to point out stuff and answer questions.

That does not rly matter :) u share ur knowledge, so there is something I can learn from u all (;
And if I'm staying interested in this language I'll make the class at uni to learn more - and would share what I learn with everyone here, too xD

Well... the prob is, that the classes are to expensive for a little student like me ^^. My own uni has something like Polish, Russian, Swedish, Turkish, Chinese... but no Japanese.
The prob with teaching by urself is the pronunciation - but this could be managed with teamspeak ^^. But I rly dunno how to learn the gramma and where to start with vocabs.. thats why I can read/write hiragana and katakana (inclusive "wi and we", but katakana I'm still learning) but cannot even say a short, easy sentence. For learnig Kana u just need a little table and a bit time oO no guides, tuts, senseis, books.... ^^

XD Thanks. I'll have to try and remember what I learned, then!

Oh, I see. Japanese pronunciation isn't hard; it pretty much consists of five vowel sounds:

A (as in announce)
I (as is heat)
U (as in shoe)
E (as in egg)
O (as in open)

and "suke" is pronounced "ske" and sometimes "wo" as "o" and sometimes "he" as "e." ^__^;;;

the missing u's and short i's r no prob. I just cant say things like "gakkou", because i would say "gakou" - but I know how it should be xD
as i said - the things i know most r out of the things i heard by watching anime, so i know the sound of the language, even if i dont understand it xD
I know that the wa (f.e. watashi ->wa<-) is written with the ha-hiragana, and know that the wo-hiragana is the o-particle or whatever these kind of words r called (yea - I'm watching openings with karaoke-effect xD)
I know that "ka" makes a question. And "no" is something that connects (watashi no kuruma - I <-no-> car - my car ^^). but whats wit these ga's and these things? and what's these "-masu"-ending? and when do i use an "o-" (f.e. o-cha - tea (i think..)).
Hum.. now i RLY wanna learn this xD

Why do I feel slightly insulted because no one understands me....? -munches cheesecake-.....

"Ga" equals...in a way "is" and stays with verbs. Goere-san ga imasu. Goere is here.

Masu is just an indication of a verb or state of being. There are ways to shorten -masu form verbs such as the dictionary form. When learning the dictionary form of a word, changing it to different tenses with 'te' or "ta" form expands what you are saying.

Goere-san ga imasu. Goere-san ga iru.

'Iru' would be the same as "imasu". Dictionary forms for verbs ends with an "u" sound.

Goere-san ga ite. Goere-san was here.

From "iru", to plainly exist and "imasu" as to exist right now. "i" + "te" = "ite" is the past form.

While figring out other "te" forms is a bit tricky, I guess using "Imasu" would do for now.

Waltz: It's funny, because you shouldn't feel insulted, knowing that you're more advanced that most of us. You're more advanced than both sensei, and yet you feel insulted that no one understands you? You speak more than both of us! LOL. It'd be unreasonable of you to think that we'd be at your level when we clearly aren't.

Cheesecake? I have Starbucks ice cream... not that I should, because I'm gonna put more caffeine in my system in a hour or so. *headdesk*

*applauds Waltz for knowing the stuff I couldn't answer*

I just speak what stays for a 3rd year should know since most little Japanese handbooks can take a person to around the level of what is introduced by 3rd year.

It's not the point of knowing to be more advanced than someone. Being in a same grade level, I can actually score lower than the people around me because the class grades are participation and applying.

-eats cheesecake-....

Wa is your subject. Whatever comes before "wa" is the subject of the sentence. "ga" stays to verbs. In that short sentence about you existing, there isn't really a need when the subject is automatically you.

Example (It being true or false has nothing to do with it): Hart-san wa otoko desu. "Hart is a boy."

Here, "wa" is another "is". But, because "otoko" "boy" is a noun, a "ga" can't be used here. Saying "Hart-san ga otoko desu" wouldn't feel right when speaking because of wrong treatment toward nothing that is a verb or a state of being.

"wa" and "ga" point back to the subject. However, since "ga" comes before a verb, "wa" has to come after the subject and before the noun used to describe the subject. So...it's like this....I guess.

Subject wa adjective desu.

Subject ga Verb+masu.
