Yeah, pretty crazy. It makes me wonder what other things we think of differently. For instance, I know that in some parts of the US, wallets are called billfolds. But that's an odd example...we're talking about knuffel here. XD

Fun part is that different cultures will tend to have things that connect with dragons.

For example
Asia:
In Buddhist mythology we get things like the naga and dragons as creatures goods and heavenly. This is both an extension of the similar belief that the snake is holy and a healer.

Eastern europe.
The dragon and snake are both a symbol of the devil. Its seen to be a creature to mistrust and extreme evil. Infact dragon is actually interchangeable with satan. Dracul was the Transylvania version of "dragon" which Dracula's father took in order to scare other invaders away. Dracula translated actually means "son of the dragon."

Europe
Dragons are fire based. Probably tied to hellfire as a continuation of the christian reptiles are evil theme. They also tend to have more of a hoarding nature.

Nagas are what we think medusa looks like now. Medusa was never a naga tho, she was a gorgon.

Nagas are holy half human half serpents that are suppose to be strikingly beautiful.

As for the dragons ... In slavic culture, there were two similar creatures- dragons and zmijs (name is like male form of vipera) , and they were ofter fighting. Dragons were those 'fire' ones, and zmijs 'lightings' ones. Zmijs could control weather sometimes. You could see them in a form of a black bird, dragon or ... human with little wings~ :D
