Yeah...
Gen could totally strike up a charming conversation spinning tails of all of the things he thinks of someone-even though they'd all be lies-all the while picking someone's pockets and stealing just about every valuable thing they had on their person, and said theft victim wouldn't even notice until Gen was too far away to catch.
OI...

I actually know a lot more people who don't like LotR than I do know of people that like it.
I thought it was spectacular.
Of course, I like most books I read...
except War and Peace.
+shivers+
Hate that book.

I'm kind of a picky reader, but I end up reading a lot of different stuff.

I'm not picky enough with my reading.
I make it a point to read whatever I come across at least once.
If I don't like it, then I don't read it again.

I'm picky in RPing, less picky in reading novels, oddly.

I end up reading interesting stuff, but I don't always like it per se. One time I did a not-so-favorable review on a book I had completely different expectations on and this person trolled the heck out of my review. I think I really upset her... but I was like... it's an opinion (and welcome to the internet.)

I've seen some interesting reviews on goodreads. Have you heard of the Artemis Fowl series? Someone commented on the first book that it was about Irish nationalism and all this crazy stuff... Most bizarre critique I've seen on those books...

Dude, I declined an RP from this RPer and his friend kinda came into my thread and, uh, well, she wasn't really rude per se, but she was in my face about it in a sense. However, I tolerated it and reasoned her into accepting why I did not want to RP with that person.

Another time when I was a mod of an RP forum, someone sent in a profile for a Sue-ish OC and I told her to revise it (but in a civil manner). She got upset and her girlfriend got upset, and they started up this whole passive-aggressive thing against me. >>;;

I kinda wanted to read Artemis Fowl. Never did for some reason...

I love the Fowl series, but it is a kids-teen book I guess. The first ones are always the best in a series. Well, almost always. I think a lot of people thought Terry Prachett's Night Watch was actually one of the best of the discworld series.

Bah, people can be crazy. I've never had much trouble with RPs. I don't tend to make RPs though- I just play in them.

Aha, I've had a lot of RPers be angry at me. 10/20 who I decline are polite about it, 5/20 want to know why, and then there's the other 5/20 that think I'm rude for not wanting to play with them. I ask for RP samples though, so I can tell if a writing style won't work with mine's.

I'm used to people taking things personally when it's not. Teens and young adults generally take everything personally, but I think as we grow up, we begin to realize that the world and other people do not revolve around us. :X

Hm, I'm not sure how that works. So you start a thread that tells people you're looking for people to RP and they send you a sample and you tell them whether or not you'll play with them? I haven't done something like that, so I'm not sure how it works.

I just send profiles and play. I try to entertain people and such. I've been invited to other RPs by people I played with before. Some of them... I kind of wish I had noted their attitude before agreeing to play with them again. It's not that I'm worried about how they RP, but OOC they're kind of ... frightening.

*feeding all the hangout members' knuffels*

I generally do that for one-on-one RPs. Here's a sample: [x]

For group RPs that I've done...or at least the one I was modding, it was a whole forum, and I checked and approved profiles for the RP to make sure that there were no Sues and that their character would fit the plot. There were over 200 members at the time and eventually I turned over the task to someone else. :X I would RP with almost anyone back then though, but it wasn't a romantic RP. It was like, those magical school ones. XD We had RPers of all skills and people came and went and there were in-game events and stuff. It was really fun.

I won't make myself RP with someone if I don't want to, though. :X I RP because I enjoy it, and if the other RPer is a jerk, I don't care if they are the best writer in the world or their character is the most awesome character ever (literally, not sarcastically). I don't put up with a lot of shit in RP.
