@Lunar: Aha, I think of them fondly, rather than romantically --to me, my characters are something like my children...but not. Well, the best way to say it is that they're my creation and I get to mess with them as much as I want. 8D When I have days of being lazy, I was always daydream about Toby cleaning my room, since it's something he does, or having Faris zap some people into bugs. >D Characters take the edge off life. >>b
Oh, but who's writing the story --you or your friend?
With us, it's my friend who writes the stories. In one, she's this kickass lady knight, and I'm a wizard who messes up my spells and is obsessed with cakes. In another, she is a girl who disguises herself as a boy to become a singer for a k-pop band and I'm her silly friend who is a fan of said band and her personal hair stylist. In yet another, we are all students who attend an academy for a secret agent --in that one, I'm part of the intelligence unit, but I have a crazy lack of stamina. Basically, she picks the theme and her role, and she comes to me and I pick my role, and she writes.
The hair stylist thing is funny though, because I did cut her bangs once (got peer pressured into it), and uh, it ended up pretty bad. XD; Let's say she was angry at me for a week. Her brother and her mom had to fix it so that it didn't look so lopsided. *headfloor* On the bright side, it did become a joke between us and her hair grew back pretty fast.
I don't know. I mean, some people like portraying themselves as the cool type --living out their fantasies in writing, you know? I wouldn't want to look down my nose at them for having fun in their own way; rather, I'd just say that it would be awkward for me. I mean, even my personas were created to be animals (male and female) so that I wouldn't have to worry about looking too badass or too plain.
Yeah, many writers look at their OCs from that sort of "living" perspective. -v- I like that too.
Oh, you like to write tragedies? I have a friend (not the one above) who loves to write those, which is funny, because she seems like such a serious girl who I would think would write something more, uh, I dunno... different. I could see her writing realistic life stories with a touch of drama; something serious, but collected --I wouldn't have thought that tragedies were her thing. XD
I tried to write a tragic story when I was in high school, but I loved my OC so much that in the end, I just had him reborn (hundreds of years later). XD; Since then, I found out that I was too soft-hearted and took my characters too personally to do that to them. I guess that's why I get sad when people in games and anime start dying too (especially my favorites, but I don't want to name-names.) It's always like, "NoooOOOooo, whhhyyy?!?! DX"
Your genres actually sound pretty exciting. :3 I mean, dude; deceit, death, and betrayal --you could've totally worked with Shakespeare or Homer (the Odyssey).
As for myself, I go for humor and drama in my writing; I push my characters into tough situations that can either turn comedic or, er, worrisome. And then we have to deal with it together to make sure they get out of it in one piece. ^^;
@Alice: But wouldn't that be bad for Jasem's nose? Why would she put up with it?
Nah, I think it's a mutual feeling that I'm to be the silly one. It's also the way it is in our life; I am content to play the clown and she's content to play the princess. One of our other friends actually scolded us about that, since he says I spoil her too much that she doesn't even realize how much she takes advantage of me, but I kinda like our love-hate relationship the way it is. We're pretty close, but man, we're always driving each other up the wall.
I think she's the reason I want to stay single. If I ever loved anyone else the way I love her (or even more), they would be spoiled out of their minds. >_>; I can't help buying things for people I like, even if it is a platonic thing. That's why my brother always gets nice gifts on his birthdays. XD
Aha, well, I did ask if anyone else had a topic theme. If you like you can mention it again in two weeks and I can put it up them. Er, or if I still remember it, I'll put it up. I actually write these things down, but I'm too comfortable as I am here to have to go downstairs and write on my Q&C topics" notepaper.
