Is it as many as their are combinations? Or?

Ah I am glad I read through the thread n 3 n
Thank you Firn for clearing up some things about it.
I did as Ceres did and watered/fertalized all 6 seeds today, so I am glad I can still get different items instead of 6 of the same :)
I have one quick question though, if you do nothing on one day will it 'wither' the plant even if you have watered it once?
I think not with how you have explained it, but I just want to double check

No, it will not wither! You only need to water a plant ONCE in three days for it not to wither.
(In other words: Yes, "1.water/nothing 2.nothing/nothing 3.nothing/nothing" is one of the possible 24 combinations.)

This is a very interesting event. So in order to get all the items, you would have to do 24 different combinations of watering and fertilizing? That seems rather complicated...

This is an amazing event. (:
But I was just testing out the possible combinations on paper and found that there were more than 24 possibilities.
So I was led to wonder, I know that each plant must be at least watered once within the 3 days it takes to grow. However, do you necessarily need to water it on the first day? Could you skip the first day and just water it once on either the second or third day?
Would these bring out different items? :
Day 1: water, Day 2: nothing, Day 3: nothing
Day 1: nothing, Day 2: water, Day 3: nothing
Day 1: nothing, Day 2: nothing, Day 3: water
