No, it will not wither! You only need to water a plant ONCE in three days for it not to wither.
(In other words: Yes, "1.water/nothing 2.nothing/nothing 3.nothing/nothing" is one of the possible 24 combinations.)

3 ways to water x 8 ways to fertilize = 24 possible combinations of watering / fertilizing, hence 24 items.
