Wooden Circus

In a dark circus, a crowd awaits for the final act of the night.
Suddenly a spotlight shines in the center of the ring. In it stands a woman in her early twenties in an open, sleeveless coat that was the color of charcoal. Under it she wore a plum colored corset and black skin-tight plants. She looked like she was just under six feet tall but it was difficult to tell because of the stelleto boots she was wearing. Her lips were plum colored and her eyes were dark and hard to see because her hat cast a dark shadow over them. Her hair was in short, dark curls. Hooked to her thigh were a whip and two marionette puppets.
The woman began to project her voice to the crowd, “I, Ringmaster, would like to thank you all for coming tonight to Web of Nightmares Circus.”
Her right hand gripped the red-haired doll wearing a black outfit with a green belt and long green, tassels.
“We have one final treat for you tonight,” she announced as a large black spider climbed down her arm and into the open palm of her left hand.
Then she threw the puppet into the air with her right arm and with blinding speed, cracked her whip at it.
When she did so, a girl who was about 18 years, old appeared on top of the tight-rope platform above. She had red hair, grey, soul-less eyes, and two blue streaks running from her eyes to the bottom of her jaw. She wore a black top that exposed her flat stomach. Her long pants were the same color as her top, and a green, silk belt long, silky tassels that reached down to her knees completed the outfit.
The spotlight immediately shone on her. While the crowd was focused on the girl, the woman caught the marionette which no longer seemed to have a puppet attached to it. Then she began to tilt the marionette as if controlling a puppet. As soon as she did, the girl began walking the tight-rope as if being controlled.
“As a special treat for tonight’s show you get to see Mystique in her first and final performance.”
The crowd cheered as the red-haired girl began to perform acrobatic tricks on the tight-rope. Then a second spot light appeared at the platform at the other end of the rope. In it stood a young man who looked like he was anywhere between the ages 18 to 22. He wore a long, black, hooded robe. Under his hood you could barely see his grey eyes and the emerald colored streaks under them. In his right hand he held a sharpened scythe.
The crowd watched in amazement as the man effortlessly slashed at the red-haired girl and she gracefully dodged his attacks.
When the act was coming to an end, the woman threw the marionette that belonged to the red-haired puppet into the air towards the tight-rope. The red-haired girl attempted to dive over the man’s head. While she did that, he made a vicious slash across the air above him.
He then held out his free hand and caught a headless marionette puppet wearing a black outfit and a green belt with long, green tassels.

We will have 493 children. We will raise them on the goodly values of cannibalism. {Humans think they can beat natural selection with all their snazzy high tech medical gadgets. But Mother Nature cannot be fooled. It's time to tip the scales in the favor of the environment!} On weekdays, they will help mommy and daddy do their work by eating the corpses of our targets. {It's a foolproof way to get rid of evidence. You can't pull fingerprints from a pile of feces.} On weekends they will help us run the rides and games at the carnival. And they will feast on any children left unsupervised by their parents. ;D
Our weekdays will be filled with the shrieks of agony, while our weekends will be filled with the screams of joy. {Except for the few children who have thoughtless parents ;D }
And we all shall live happily ever after. {And by all, I mean me, you, and our children. Not the children or the targets that our children devoured. }
;D
/Cue the upbeat Disney music.

Dolls and Chainsaws

The sun was beginning to set, turning the sky orange in color as the lumberjack or arborist as some may call him, walked over to a tree with a colored tag on it.
“It looks like this is the next one,” he said as he lifted his chainsaw.
The orange color of the sky attracted his attention, and he realized it was getting late. Then he looked around to see how many more were left in the area of the woods he was working in. His eyes counted three other trees with colored tags wrapped around their trunks, and they were all separated by a considerable distance. He was tempted to just go home now and finish the job tomorrow. While he was still unsure, he turned to face the marked tree in front of him. It wasn’t too big. His plan was to cut down this tree before he left, this way he would only have to do three trees tomorrow and could collect his payment.
As the man lifted his chainsaw again, he heard a voice say, “Sir, She is coming.”
Looking down the man saw a fox standing next to his feet.
When the lumberjack began to stare blankly at the fox, it repeated itself, “Sir, She is coming.”
The lumberjack almost dropped his chainsaw when he heard the quiet, human-like voice come from the creature’s mouth. Then without repeating itself a second time the fox ran between the man’s legs, shouting, “Don’t struggle. It will only make it more difficult.” He only watched the fox pass a couple of trees when suddenly a woman jumped from the closest tree in his line of vision and landed in front of him.
She seemed young and landed on her feet like she had only jumped from two feet instead of twenty. She stood there in a plum colored corset, a charcoal-colored, sleeveless coat that stopped at her mid-thigh, and black, skin-tight pants that were tucked under pointed boots. One of her hands was still holding her hat steady, covering her eyes. The other hand had a coiled whip in it. Attached to her hip were two marionette controllers: one was worn, and the other was new.
A smile formed on her plum colored lips and the man became frightened. He didn’t know what was going on, but he already knew he didn’t want any part of it. He slowly took a step back but tripped. When he fell to his knees, he could have sworn he saw the fluffy tail of a fox moving away quickly, in the corner of his eye.
He tried to stand but before he could, there was suddenly a blade under his chin, pressing against his throat. He looked up and saw a man with dark hair hanging upside down from the lowest branch of the tree behind the lumberjack. The man had grey, emotionless eyes and two green-colored streaks running from his eyes and down his cheeks. In his hands was a scythe, and its blade was curled around the lumberjack’s neck.
The woman said the words that ran through his head at that moment, “Move, and you’re dead.”
Once her words escaped her lips, she held out her hand and a large black spider crawled from her shoulder to her palm. Then the spider launched itself from her palm to the lumberjack’s shoulder. The spider bit into his neck and his body became still. The colors of his brown eyes began to drain from his eyes and run down his cheeks like colored tears until all of the color was drained from his eyes and on his face were two brown streaks running from his eyes down past his cheeks. After that he was like a soulless body.
The woman reached for her new marionette controller and threw it in the air above the man’s body. The spider reached by jumping into the air and weaving thin strings that attached the body to the controller. When it was done, the spider jumped back onto the woman’s shoulder, and she picked up a small wooden marionette puppet sitting lying against the tree.
Once the puppet was secured to her side, she shouted, “Let’s go Cleatus.”
Instantly, the man with the scythe dropped from the tree and followed her without a word as she walked away from the falling sun.

Cutting Strings
Chattering voices rang through the darkness of the tent. Suddenly, a spotlight turned on and the voices turned into hushed whispers. The spotlight focused on the inside lining of the tent just off from the center of the ring. Inside this light was a spider hanging from the big top. The spider slowly descended on a thin, silk thread, and as it did, the spotlight followed.
Once the spotlight reached the ring, a woman in her twenties stood in the center of it. She wore a plumb colored corset and a sleeveless coat the color of coal that stretched down to her thighs and remained unbuttoned. Her pants were made from black, skin tight leather and were partially covered by stelleto boots. A hat covered her head and hid her dark eyes. Her short, black hair came out from under her hat in curls. The spider landed in the palm of her hand.
“Welcome to the Circus Gothique,” was the greeting that came from her plumb colored lips. “We have a daring show for you tonight performed by Tassos and Isadora.”
The woman grabbed two marionettes hitched to her side and clutched her whip in the other hand. The lights went out and two cracks from the whip were heard through the hushed voices. The arena lit up again and a young woman and broad shouldered man stood on a platform connected to a tightrope. Around them in the air were multiple tightropes, some without platforms at their ends, that criss-crossed above and below each other, forming a network of ropes.
The young woman looked as if she was no older than twenty and had long brown hair tied back into a ponytail. She wore a long, black top that almost seemed like a short dress with long sleeves that extended way past her arms and flailed out towards the ends. The ends of the sleeves and top were a bright, neon yellow that stood out against the black. She also wore skin tight leggings that also displayed this same color of yellow and her shoes were made for tight rope walking and were black. The woman’s face was emotionless and for those who could see her eyes, they were a pale grey. Two green streaks started at her eyes and ran down her face like tears.
The man seemed like he was in his mid-twenties and made the woman seem as if she shorter than she was when he stood next to her. He wore a black vest that was open to expose his muscular upper body. He wore loose, black circus pants that stopped at his ankles. The trim and buttons on his vest were the same neon yellow. The trim and bottom of his pants were also this color. He also wore the same type and color shoes as the woman that stood next to him. His eyes were also a pale grey and two brown streaks ran down his face.
Another crack of the whip was heard and the young woman began to run down the tightrope with the man behind her. She suddenly turned around after she had passed the center of the rope, ran back at her partner with great speed and then jumped into the air in front of him. Her partner responded by cupping his hands and then throwing her into the air when her foot hit his hands. She did a flip in midair and then landed with the grace of a cat on a rope ten feet above her partner. The partner jumped and grabbed the rope three feet above his head that was perpendicular to the rope he was standing on. Using his massive arms, he swung himself up. He repeated this until he was on a rope on the same level as his partner. The woman ran toward the rope he was on and jumped from hers to his. She ran towards his backside and jumped onto his now slumped back. In a fluid motion she landed and then sprang off of him, launching herself not straight into the air but more backward. She curled up into a ball and did summersaults in the air until she landed elegantly on a tightrope only 5 feet from the pole holding it up.
She stood erect with her hands by her side as a light focused on a platform on the other end of the rope. On it was a figure in a dark black, hooded rope, holding a scythe. The figure was a young man in his late teens or early twenties with grey eyes with emerald colored streaks coming from them and traveling down his face that were all hard to see from under the darkness of his hood.
Suddenly the young rushed towards her with the scythe and she began to sprint towards him as well as if the was being controlled by something other than instinct. She blocked the scythe with her hand that instead of having fingers actually had long blades. The sleeves that once covered these blades had rolled up her arm exposing them. He jerked back and tried to swing for her again but this time she jumped and landed on the flat blade and sprung herself up to the tight rope above.
Something happened when she did this. Her body gave a slight twitch and the green streaks began to fade from her face; for a moment there was color in her eyes. The streaks returned to their normal color for a brief moment and then disappeared altogether. The look of confusion crossed the woman’s once lifeless face. Then she saw the blades in her hands and began to tremble as she gave out as sob because she just realized the pain they caused. The Ringmaster became displeased because a thread had broken on one of her lovely puppets and during a performance. She grabbed her spider and pointed towards the woman and then the controller. The spider obeyed her command and began to string a stronger thread to replace the broken one.
As the spider fixed the controller, the show continued. While she stood confused, unbalanced and in pain, the man in the hooded robe moved along the tightrope under her and as planned, cut the rope under her feet. She was too scared and confused to scream as she fell. Her attempt to grab onto the rope futile because her blades only cut it and sent the robed man falling with her. She fell into her partner who was on a lower rope and her blades dug deep into his midsection. Just before they hit the ground, the color from the woman’s eyes disappeared and the streaks came back. Robotically she pulled her blades out of her partner and sprung off of his body. A small thud was heard as a puppet with a hole in its chest hit the ground. The woman landed elegantly with sawdust raining down from spots on her face where blood had been. There was one final large thud coupled with the sound of slicing meat. On the ground was a headless, marionette wearing a black robe with a toy scythe lying under it.
The one who was scheduled to lose this game was the only one left standing.

Here's the first chapter to "Waxing," a story about DM and Luna.

Waxing

Chapter 1 (DM) Starry Night
(Give Me a chance to be that person I want to be.)

At night, this is where you can find me, sitting on a high branch of a tall tree with my back against the trunk. The gentle breeze feels great against my bare arms. The stars are out and they aren’t leaving for hours. I can feel my body absorbing the power of the nearly full moon. A power I defiantly need. Control. I’m not sure why summer nights make me feel so calm, but I know the full moon just makes them even better.
The full moon makes me seem somewhat normal, but even I know things will never be normal. There are just some things that I can’t get rid of, but it’s okay if you can at least ignore them, even if its only for a little while. Then I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
Its weird that I’m nocturnal and all of my other friends are up in the blinding daylight. Well… almost all of my friends. Neko is technically nocturnal, but she likes to experience the daylight too so she’s not up every night. Tonight she decided to sleep, leaving me up alone.
It’s about a few minutes ‘til midnight, and things look like any other average night. Since everyone else is asleep and the moon is almost full, it’s a perfect opportunity to practice my powers.
I usually hate practicing my powers but now that the moon is almost full, I feel like I have a hold on them. Plus there’s nobody around to hurt. Maybe I can eventually learn how to give instead of taking from others. That’s pretty much the only motivation I have for practicing.
I stood up and stretched. Then I took one last look at the moon. When I did, something next to it in the night sky caught my eye. Something was shining in the bright moonlight as it fell towards the earth. I watched as it came closer and closer. With great speed it shot across the sky. Then it must have landed because there was a deafening crash. Then a rush of wind rippled through the air. The wind caught my wings and blew me back against the tree trunk.
“What the hell?”
Curiosity was killing me. Who knows what did that and who else is going to figure that out. I’m the only one up and in the woods this time of night. All of the other bats live in the bat colony that’s at least a good ten miles from here. Without further delay I sprang into the air and began flying in the direction of the crash.
When I got there, I found a deep crater within a clearing of trees. It took me a few minutes to fly there so the smoke and dust had long cleared and settled around the area.
Inside the crater lay a girl about my age. Did she get hit by the thing that fell from the sky or was she the thing that fell? Crap! Is she even alive?
I slid into the rocky crater towards her body. I was now close enough to see that she was a hedgehog. Her fur was black and had yellow highlights mostly starting on the top of her forehead and traveling down the back of her head and down her quills.
I felt for a pulse. There was one. That’s good. She’s still alive. She’s just unconscious. She’s lucky to be alive from this. Most people would be dead.
Her body began to stir and her ear twitched. I think she’s waking up.
