Hey guys, I'd just like some confirmation on the levels of gore that this site deems appropriate; I've had a hunt through the rules and as far as I can tell this is all I'm able to find;

→ Extreme gore should not be part of your Knuffel. This is mainly a matter of personal taste, but I think hardly any users wishes to adopt a cute little Knuffel only to discover that at stage 5 it's bowel is hanging out of its stomach.

What exactly would 'extreme' gore include? Anything above PG-13, or something too realistic perhaps?
I would just like some clarification before I begin work on a zombie based knuffel, as one of the aspects I hope to include is a partially exposed ribcage.

Mainly too realistic and "too strong" for people who're not into gore I guess.

I've seen sketch you have in your wild knffel thread. Personally, I have nothing against bit of blood, but I think ribcage+lack of hand and eye, with so much blood could be bit too much. I think knuffel should be mostly cute and this cuteness should be visable to everyone, not only those who're into gore/zombies. It's hard to draw a line here. "Frankenstein look", or making elements like bones being painted on body of knuffel (something like voodoo skin) is a safest way to do something zombie themed/inspired.

Hi, I have some knuffel project: I wanted to start with bended knuffel and then straighten it up, the problem is, I'm sure that in 1-2 stages there will be a big gap between knuffel and the edge of the picture. Will my knuffel be rejected for this?

Proportions rule applies to every stage, so yes.

thank you :)

Just last question: it dose it have to be head that is near the edge, or can it be really long hair or hands in the air?

Erm, I'm not sure if I understand... You'd draw hair "standing" on head/some crazy hairstyle to make it more proportional? The very base of knuffel needs to follow proportions, so it can't be hair that fills the empty space. As for hands, I'm not sure. Guess it would depend on how it's drawn. I mean, if most of character would be drawn in lower part of image and only hands in upper, there still would be lots of space between hands and proportions would be off. I'll risk saying that creating a base where hands would mark the upper line and still follow proportions is possible, just not sure how hard it would be.

amalath; Thank you! Yeah, I do believe that the sketch I've doodled is too extreme.

So if I understand correctly, on the overall basis a knuffel should be cute, at least to some degree, and as long as the gore doesn't interfere with the knuffel being cute (i.e. as long as it doesn't make the knuffel more scary than cute) then it should be alright? :mccute:

Guess you can say it that way. Just gore parts shouldn't be realistic/intense enough to disturb someone, who doesn't like gore, in looking at knuffel.

The Knuffel does not have to be "cute", and the level of gore that would be allowed really is hard to describe, as it depends on a person's personal feel towards something.
Unfortunately I am the one who approves Knuffel and my gore acceptance level is really extreme low. Not because I want to be a bitch about it, but because just looking at my own arms and seeing my veins makes me cringe, so you can probably imagine how I would feel about an open ribcage. Though even that would probably depend on how realistic or abstract it is drawn. It is really hard to say something in advance for me without seeing how it is done. But people should just keep in mind that my gore tolerance is extremely low when doing a Knuffel. Something other people might not be bothered about at all might already be enough to make me throw up. :qoops:
