And I said to mom, every day the news gives me more and more reason not to leave my house. Her response was 'Yea but you shouldn't be so afraid that you don't actually live your life'. Well I happen to value what life I do have and I don't want to die from some crazy mass murderer or some idiot teenaged driver showing off for friends, or any other stupid person. u.u She pissed me off quite a bit saying that.

I dunno...people are adrenaline junkies these days.
The person threw a smoke bomb into the theater and started shooting people up while wearing a mask.
I have no idea if he was caught, but ten people died, I think.
You never hear about stuff like that happening in Canada, so the Eaton Center incident shook everyone up.
And then ANOTHER thing happened in Scarborough, which is in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Two people were killed, and a bunch were injured, including a baby...
It happened in a slummish area of Toronto though...not really shocking.
But still disconcerting.
Toronto is turning into a hell hole. It's always been a dangerous city to live in, but not like this.
Thank god I've only been there three or four times.
...Your mom does kind of have a point though. I don't agree with her completely (you have every right to be afraid), but you can't let your life just stop at a stand still because of a few bad incidents. I don't want you pissed off at me, too, but I don't think you should stop going outside. I understand you valuing your life, I would too if I felt there were threats outside my door step, but it's blowing things a bit out of proportion if you think you'll be shot for going out and hanging out with people, or shopping. Stay in the areas that you feel are safest, if you want to be comfortable going outside? Sorry, I'm not the best at advice sometimes.

I think the news said he was under arrest and 12 people are confirmed dead now. /: Oh goodness, how awful @ those incidents. Were they both shootings? How close together were they? :T
I'm not mad at you. :) (It's a bit easier to read because my mom always has a judging tone to her voice) But I'm not very comfortable around most people anyway. I'm a bit of an introvert so I tend to stay at home a lot because being around people causes me a lot of stress. Now and then my boyfriend and I will go shop or go to movie. But mom just says things like that as though I need to live this big, exciting life or whatever. I prefer a quiet, peaceful little life in a happy little cabin with a garden or something like that.

Jesus. I Google ''Toronto Eaton Centre Shooting'' and all I'm getting is how that girl who died at the Dark Knight Rises was at it.
Eaton Centre shooting happened June 3rd, at 6:30 p.m.
For the Scarborough incident, apparently 19 people were injured.
That happened 4 days ago on the 16th.
That sounds exactly like me. Lol.
I want a nice, quiet life, with nothing dangerous in it.
I'm hoping to become a chef, some day. College, in 2014, if things go well.
I have no idea if that's my calling, but it's what my man wants to do, and I want to have something creative in my life.
Without sitting behind a desk, or in front of a computer.

Oh, gosh, they haven't gotten a hold of the first guy? @-@ That's scary. We've just had a few STUPID teenagers shooting and killing people FOR FUN that were running around our town. I think they got them both though but it was pretty terrifying...they were literally just sniping random people in a parking lot.
^-^ My boyfriend had wanted to be a chef for a while. I'm not sure if that's still his ambitions because he's been pretty into playing guitar lately and actually learning that skill (he's incredibly lazy when it comes to cooking food so I didn't see how being a chef was going to work out). I wish you the best of luck in becoming a chef. :)
