Well the kanji (驚異) can be translated as wonder or miracle.
The first one means 'to be surprised', the second one is 'different, strange, etc'.
And there are a LOT of words that can be miracle in Japanese. :>
A lot of them seem alike but have different nuances. Dx
That's what makes it so difficult to study it in third year. -___-
I'm going to have to differentiate nuances. @_@
