Deeper Than the Darkness, otherwise known as The Stars in Shroud. By Gregory Benford.

So far things are pretty deep but interesting. So far it's a future in which everyone is inflicted with a disease of some sort that reduces a human into a madman crawling into as small of a hole as possible, in a society where humanity is basically interconnected so much that it's central to their well-being. Also apparently America and Europe had died out long ago to the point that Caucasians are minorities that used to be treated with racial slurs because they are of a lower caste.

Ahead of it's time for 1955 so far, honestly: some of these ideals I remember seeing first on Star Trek like the lightspeed travel explanation... with a few changes to the ideas of course.

would have done it in four books
There's a milkman waiting in the sky.
He likes to deliver dairy so long as it's homogenized.
There's a milkman waiting in the sky.
He drives a rundown milk truck
And his milk's been pasteurized.

He told me;

Let the bovines moo it!
Let the bovines chew it!
Let the bovines boogie
Down, down dah dah dah
Dah dah dah dah
Dah dah dah dah...

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
It's sort of a modern retelling of Cinderella.

I'm reading The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. I started the series a loooong time ago, and I'm just now getting around to finishing it. :P It's really good. I feel like I've learned more about Greek mythology by reading this series than by any other way.
