I'm cool with other people getting tattoos, but I'd never get one myself, just because I'm likely to change my mind about what makes a 'good' tattoo after I got one, and I can't be continually lasering and replacing the ink. Plus, I'd be concerned with how it would look once I start getting older and the canvas starts getting wrinkly or whatever.

Sometimes I do think that some people might want to put more thought into their own tattoos, though; when I see people with "trendy" or "geeky" tattoos, I wonder if they'll still be as enthusiastic about it a few years down the line. And of course, that's not even broaching the subject of botched or misspelled tattoos...

I love tattoos. They're really cool. I've only got one at the moment. I'm going to get it fixed up next month hopefully.

I want a lot of tattoos, I've wanted tattoos since I was a little girl. My daddy had some awesome ones. :mclol:

Now I don't understand people getting a LOT of tattoos in a short amount of time. Especially when they haven't been thought out. My boyfriend's coworker has gotten 4 or more tattoos in the past year alone. And they're all spur of the moment. I think that if you want a tattoo for more than a year then it's ok to get it. Otherwise you're probably going to end up regretting it.

I'd like to get a few tattoos. I have one in particular in mind- just a sleeve tattoo, nothing crazy. Some fancy filigree, maybe with some flowers. Roses on my collarbones, maybe. Something badass but classy, you know what I mean?

I have absolutely no problem with tattoos, unless you have really offensive ones- like, if you've got a swastika tattooed on your forehead, I'm not going to touch you with a ten-foot pole, you feel me? Or if you've got the n-word or f****t tattooed on you somewhere people can see, I'm probably going to wrinkle my nose and glare and pointedly not speak to you because that's just not okay.

But pretty much any tattoo is okay as long as it isn't racist or otherwise disgustingly offensive.

Tattoos are beautiful, but I'm too much of a weenie to get one. xD Also, scars on myself freak me out a lot (although not on other people for some reason).

Although, if someone wants to get tattooed for fashion only, why not? It's their right to do with their body as they wish, and it's not like it's killing them or anyone else or anything.
That being said, there should always be some serious thought and research into the tattoo style you want, whether it has meaning or is just for fashion. There are (and I always get a little worried when people deny this) tattoos that symbolize certain things like gang involvement or specific crimes. One of the most common is a tear drop tattoo, which, although now considered another fashion statement, used to mean you killed someone in prison, someone in your gang was killed, or things along those lines.
A cobweb tattoo could mean you had a lengthy prison sentence.
Supremist inmates might have a 1488 tattoo.

Some of the meanings could be found on google if you look it up. Honestly, in the end, the choice for a tattoo depends on solely on the person, whether it's merely for fashion purposes, or it has a deep symbolic meaning to them (my mom sports a Star of David in a circle on her forearm to represent her faith), it won't harm me.

I'm a firm believer of 'Your Body, Your Choice'. You have to live with it not me. And while I love tattoos, I don't want one. I can't stand needles and I can't see a point to having a tattoo on my body. I know I wanted one as a teenager but that idea changed for me was a got older and that is okay.

My tattoo makes me happy every time I see it. It's on the inside of my right forearm.

I hope to get some other tattoos eventually. I have a neat idea for my feet but my feet are super super sensitive so I don't know if I'd be able to do it.

I love tattoos, I love getting them and I just love everything about them. For now I only have 2, but I want a lot more. In my opinion your body is a canvas and tattoos are the artwork that covers that canvas. I have a tattoo drawn up that symbolizes my daughter, and I am currently working on one to symbolize my son. As my 18th birthday present my mom and step dad paid for my first tattoo, it's a shooting star with a crescent moon and other smaller stars and it's on my left shoulder blade. My only other tattoo is on my left forearm and it's a spider. I love spiders. Lol

P.S. Hamato - I love your tattoo, it's very pretty and it looks so elegant.

I think tattoos that are given a lot of thought and time to mull over the idea can be very beautiful and symbolic.

I don't have one, but I do plan on getting one someday when I can decide on a design I like longer than a few months.

When tattoos are tasteful, I like them. Recently I saw these tattoos on a TV show that completely covered a two mens' chests, stomachs, and arms- they were all celebrities. They were ugly, and I hated them. I think that "sleeve" tattoos can indeed be very beautiful works of art though, but I would never get one because they would almost always get in the way of my professionalism- even if I will be a graphics designer.

I think that if someone can't logically see themselves having the tattoo when they're ninety years old, or simply can't stay with the same design for a long period of time, that they shouldn't have a tattoo yet.

I believe that any type of tattoo, put in the wrong place (say on someone's face) can negatively effect how possible bosses look at you as an employee, and thus effect your eligibility in many instances.
