Actually no, PS1 came out in 94, N64 came out in 96 (googled it to check)

It's alright, I didn't get one myself till years after the ps2 was out, and i was trying to give my mom a way to play her ps1 games without using my ps2 all the time. I don't have it anymore, but still have my PS1 memory cards. (now if only half my digimon games still worked or they'd rerelease them on PSN XD)

I actually beat the E4 in X myself about a month ago, i've gotten slower about beating them, but I still enjoy them. I'm still iffy about those retro 3 in one consoles. What I meant though about my digimon games is I have 1-3(2's on loan to camero atm) but 3's no longer reading, and 1 never worked 100% right due to scratches from when I bought it.

I tried 4, but it was not very easy for me, so I can completely understand what you mean about trying to avoid getting hit(I don't think I ever managed to get out of the starting area in that one XD)
