Alright, so for at least the first question the answer is yes it's worth the gas mileage, the point of the questions I and Tam brought up was more for you to be able to decide 100% on if it was worth it, The only worry I'd have is your mother's reaction to you working at that store.

Pretty doll. I like her clothes too, except the high heels. But she needs hands that are bent to hold things. I loved graspy hands on dolls as a kid, and I still find them handy on my two Japanese dolls.

Well, I actually won't be able to tell until I look at the paperwork and determine what will being going on while I work there, like what's required of em and so on. Reason why I'm looking into it is because if we have bad numbers for our weekly progress they say at my current job 'if this keeps up we're going to have to let some of you go' which is why I want to see about this job. I might be able to talk the the manager tomorrow since they are having some kind of meeting and they said I could have some of the food. OWO

Yeah I can't blame you for wanting to look into it now then, considering you haven't even worked there long, the fact they are threatening to let people go already doesn't bode well for the last one hired. Mom used to say that it was policy at her office typically (except in certain cases of the place doing things that they could get sued for) it was Last one in, first one out.

Luckily I'm not the last one in, unfortunately I'm also one of the ones that gets the least people signed up for anything, which is mostly due to the fact that people get the work done for free or really cheap by friends/family that is in the business. But that's not saying much around here since some of the businesses will have the certification for the company but not the individual techs. So its kind of hard to get people to sign up because of that, then I also got the people are are in apartments or have other kinds of things my company can't work on. But thus far I got the most maintenances signed up and I got one estimate since there were only 7 of the maintenances and I think 4 or 5 estimates when I read the notices. (yes, I know maintenances is not a word but I don't know how else to say it. x'D)

Even so, based off my mom's and my own experiences, places love to dump on the person that tries the hardest. My mom was the hardest worker in her last place of work, covering the most plants, and getting them done every month without help, and she got laid off in 2009 purely because her work decided they wanted rid of anyone close to or at the age of 60, no reason, just a pattern that got noticed when more and more around that age got laid off all around the same time, and all the younger employees weren't. And she wasn't last one in either, she'd worked there 14 years, there were other people that had worked there far less time, it was pure age in her case.(amongst other things they pulled at the same time that I really don't think it's a good idea if I go into them as I'm more apt to get into a rant about it XD)

Oh, sometimes its the pay raises as well, most places have stopped giving raises for anything now and will try to find a way to fire someone who's had a raise before the freeze since it costs more money to have them then to hire a new person. Where I used to work one of the recovery people had been there since the store opened and that's I think like 14 years, and she still makes only $7.50 an hour when I made $8.25 having only been there for a year and getting a promotion. I felt so bad for her. :qcry:

been there, spirit. i got laid off from my job in california even though i was one of the hardest working employees there. it was at a craft store, similar to michael's, but with a full fabrics department. i was taken under the wing of the fabric ladies, so if they got sick or called in, the store had someone as back-up. i was the only person willing to deal with the giant mess called the scrapbooking area xD i did my recovery areas above par, helped make displays, helped customers with ideas and even helped/showed how to repair jewelry for people instead of trying to explain how to do it, and i was one of the more reliable cashiers. but instead of letting go of the other cashier's boyfriend, who was in charge of the woodworking section of the store, which i had found numerous times SLEEPING on the floor of an aisle without a camera in it, they let me go. how messed up is that? =/ people often complained about him...but nuuuu it was me who got sacked. no logic at all...

That's not right for them to do that, but I'm glad you don't work there if that's how they treat people who actually do their work. *hugs*

i know right? it's all good. i got to spend a year with my best friend after that, working aside her at a gas station, where our manager let us crank up techno/ddr-isque songs for our shifts, as we pretty much had the same shifts. i miss those days...the funny part is we had only known each other for about 4 or 5 years strictly online. my mom was terrified that I'd be killed or something...lol i had more faith in my lynxie to believe the horrid things my mom spouted at me about trusting online people. i like to think I'm a good judge of character and honestly, she's been one of only a handful of people that i know i can trust and rely on. I'm sooooo angry that i won't be able to be at her wedding next year. stupid work...can't take that kind of time off, financial or stability wise. :(
