Vindrae! Brilliant person that is! Really nice too.

and we checked. We might go to the Globe. Sadly the play you recommend isn't on during those days, but there is another one on, so depending on what the third person says (the second is ALL for it) we'll definitely be watching one of the plays! *happy dance*

Fiel: I'd love to meet so many people from on here, sadly, travelling the world is indeed far too expensive... I know I've already got standing invitations to Canada and the US... Luckily the UK is still relatively cheap to get to... It'll still kill my bankaccount, but at least it'll recover sooner. I'm afraid any further than the UK will put me in debt... :qoops:

England is cheap enough to travel to, but everything here is so very expensive. Especially food :(

Are you sure As You Like It isn't on? I specifically checked and thought I saw it on the listing...

The only person I know face to face on this site is Urban Myth, and she's my best friend.

Jessicat: yeah. The travel is ok, the food is extremely expensive, but we'll manage... It's paying for a place to stay that costs the most in the end though...

and we checked. It's supposed to be on, but it's just not on during those four days... (probably cause it's a weekend?)

Is even street food expensive in England?

There isn't much street food. But yes, even in markets and things it's generally quite expensive. Some of it has to do with inflation and high taxes, but mostly I think hey can charge the amount they do because everyone does and they can get away with it.

I think it's somewhat cheaper in regional areas though.

But there should be street food! Aren't there some roadside fish and chips stalls or something? In a place where food is expensive, there's got to be something that poor people can afford.

What there should be seldom accords with what is. I think it's just a matter of England not having much of a street food culture to begin with other than roasted chestnuts and small things like that which hardly constitute 'food'.

Then again, people say England is just not really known for food full stop.

Instead the poor people get social benefits... Income support... and older people get cooked food delivered to them by the council if they're unable to make it themselves/can't afford to.
If you're poor you don't eat out. I don't much.

Is the income support usually enough?

usually.
usually enough if you don't eat out especially. There are many faults with England, but it's mostly okay, for now... Our current government is against the poor and generally bad news for socialism though.
