Alright, finished that, and then read an old standby, one of the Georgette Heyer novels. (It's always interesting to see how the isolation of the past can play out; when to travel to even the next town over takes a day or even two, and there are no phones or telephones to keep in contact and pass information along, and even finding your way requires research at the library into guidebooks and possibly unreliable maps.)

Hm, okay, now I've just finished (really just-finished, as in wandered afk to read it and just came back when I put it down, lol) a book about a woman named "October Daye" and it is by Seanan McGuirre.

It's in first person.

I really really really don't like first person books. But this was recommended to me by no less than seven separate, distinct sources, so I finally gave it a try. It was... okay. Kinda. Probably would have been great if it weren't in first person, even. But still distinctly first person, and I just can't get past that. So now I'm hoping the author does another book or another series or whatever, that is in a different point of view, and THAT I would actually even purchase.

It's left me feeling rather frustrated, really.

Right, so someone just handed me a compilation of Sherlock Holmes short stories that were written by fans (well, mostly professional authors, but none of them are Arthur Conan Doyle, so...).
Some of these are excellent. As in, better than the originals!
And some of them are just cringe-worthy

And I'm having a hard time finishing the collection, because of the unpredictability. Which is weird.
Anyone have any good tricks for getting through short story collections with widely varying quality?

Currently reading Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame. Only 24 pages in and so far it's good. I was really excited when I found this book because the book started out in Wattpad. The book is about this girl named Eden spending 8 weeks in California visiting her dad, who hasn't spoken to her for three year. He's remarried to another woman and now has three stepchildren.

The audio book I'm currently listening to is Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby. I've gotten to Part 4, Chapter 19 so far and am totally in love with it. The book is about Quinn, a girl who lost the love of her life when her boyfriend, Trent, died in an accident. Trent was an organ donor who saved many peoples lives after he died. Quinn, along with Trent's mother have found and met all these people except one. They have not gotten the chance to meet the person that has Trent's heart even though they've sent letters and have asked to meet in person. This book is about how Quinn ends up meeting the boy who has her dead ex-boyfriend's heart even though she wasn't supposed to.

Reading Never, Never by Brianna R. Shrum.
It's a retelling of Peter Pan from the point of view of James Hook.
It was a little slow to start but I've found it hard to put it down.
Peter is rightfully infuriating, and I find myself enjoying Hook's POV.
Tiger Lily is refreshing, but at times I wish she was presented with even more depth.
(I would like much more of her!)
I'm not finished yet, as I'm constantly scared the ending won't go the way I'd like!
Hopefully it does. After that, who knows what I'll read!

I've been reading The 100 series. It's so interesting. I started watching the show and I loved it so I started reading the books.
