I have characters at the City of the Gods. They're proto-mages, mostly. I guess Rose is at the convent. But I don't know what Rose is like.

Just fill in stereotypical convent stuff. Nuns, rulers, other stuff... I don't know of any other stereotypical convent stuff. Make it up. Make Rose up too. Make it all up.

She's a character I have trouble relating to. A lot. Dirk, Dave and Sollux are surprisingly easy. Vriska was pretty okay, too. Mituna as a tree is nearly impossible. Lord English is nearly impossible unless I play up his unsocial and grumpy aspects. I'm unsure about Jake. Karkat should be okay, but will take a long time to write to get his figures of speech done right.

Any suggestions?

Didn't you get Rose the one time you took your highly important personality quiz, though? She should be easy for you. I feel like bemusement is really important when writing her, and a deep-seated self-satisfaction that lets her roll with things.

Karkat sucked the time I tried to write him, and I wasn't even in his perspective. The writing exercise where I rewrote Homestuck scenes as prose helped a lot, though.

His rants are a weird mix of anger, wit, self-deprecation, and insults. It's an odd balance to achieve, especially when feeling tired and short on the wit. He's fine when he's not ranting, though.

I think of Rose as spending a lot of time with an indulgent smile on her face and an amused twinkle in her eye. Again... that's not helpful.

I don't do self-indulgent smile so well. It's not funny enough.
