One of my cats always destroys my shirts when is cuddles with me when his claws are long xD

I know my sister hates trimming, so she uses soft paws or whatever they're called
They're caps for the claws, they stick on and fall off when the layer is shed

Her one cat was aware of them. Seemed to think they were normal. Would claw you every time she was missing several. Not enough to cause damage, but "yo these need replacing"

I think I heard that in some other country they perform surgery to take the claws away altogether

"hey let's permanently remove part of a cat's defense system"

It damages cats, makes them more defenseless, makes them walk funny, suddenly things that were normal hurt like a bitch. Imagine rubbing your fingers on something that used to be soothing/neutral and now feels like sixteen thousand needles are stabbing you every time you even brush it. It's why declawed cats tend to hate the litter box after. Hurts them

It's becoming an animal cruelty crime here. And animal cruelty I believe is now considered a big crime like parental neglect or arson

Especially when there's alternatives that are less damaging
Like soft paws, which are lil nail caps
And trimming them, obviously

But no. People want to slowly damage their cat's bones and put them in constant pain for the rest of their lives -.-"
