Brown Bread; also sometimes referred to as Boston Brown Bread in the US.

(Otherwise, if you're just referring to any kind of bread that is brown in color.... it could be ANYTHING).

The Irish refer brown bread as wheat and rye. That's what I meant.

I was referring to breads made entirely out of wheat and rye, yeah.
There are still a lot of options.
Super dense, or very light, chewy-crust or soft-crust or crispy-crust, sweet or with coffee or with caraway, not to mention the shape and size varieties. That's also not going into the options of things like rye spoon-breads, or pan-breads, or stuffed breads...

I have no clue what the buy-your-bread options these days are. Should go look next time I'm at the store.

It's supposed to be a bit better for you than white bread. I like wheat bread better with sandwiches but if I'm eating toast I like it made with white bread.

There are a lot of options in the bread aisle now. I just buy the cheapest kind for sandwiches. It's like 89 cents for a loaf.

Wow, that's not really that much more expensive than making it!
I mean, your verimost basic bread is just going to be flour, water, and your yeast-starter, and flour is about half that per pound (or less), but you'll almost always add in things like a pinch of salt, a handful of soaked wheat berries, or something else to give it more interest... maybe some oil if you expect it to be sitting around for a full day. So all told, that's about cheap enough I'd think of buying instead of baking! Maybe... depends a little, because a lot of times I'll start baking whenever I want to warm up, since it warms the house.

Maybe just when you have to feed a lot of people?
And that is the cheapest bread. So it's not super nice. It's alright in a pinch.

The nicer ones are about 1.08 I think. They taste pretty good and are softer. But we get the cheapest at the moment.
