I understand how shade works but my brain complicates it and just makes it all stupid. I feel like it's too light or too muddy or - meh. I'll get it eventually.

I always feel so gung ho like IM GONNA GET THOSE DONUTS and then I just don't.

Mood: I HAVE A VINYL CUTTER AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE IT
Just an average weekend for me. If this headache ever goes away I'll go out to the store for groceries. Later my kid and I will work on a gem & mineral digging kit, plus other chores like laundry and such. Somewhere in there I want to try and sketch out a knuffel design of my own, too.

Your art is pretty cute, Lily. ^^ If you need help with learning to shade or other techniques, Concept Cookie has a wealth of excellent exercises to practice with. I highly recommend their site for anyone wanting to tune up their skills.

For me? Nope. I was to meet with my mom, get my bf to her place and we were supposed to take out her old couch, but she got all "I'm ashamed of my mess, I don't want him to go in, he'll make comments, I don't want that". And all that because when she was asking us for help bf mentioned a casual joke about cleaning the floor between the piles of clothes/boxes and stuff. And let's face it, everybody does that sometimes. But my mom? Nooooo. She has to go all insecure and hostile because she's ashamed of the mess she created herself.
So she called us off, we made the appointment for the next Saturday. Two hours later she called me and told me we have the next Saturday off, because her bf and his friend took care of the old couch. Apparently she took it outside the apartment herself so they wouldn't come in. But still, mom, get the grip of yourself. Clean your mess if you're so ashamed of it. And my bf didn't really comment on her mess. Especially wouldn't do it in her face.
I also offered yesterday that I'd stay at her place and help her clean up a few things, but after she called us off, she told me she'll handle the mess herself.

Sometimes I feel like a parent of a very stubborn 5 yr-old, you know? Grow up, his opinion doesn't even matter. If the mess bothers you, clean it, what's the big deal? -.-

But at least I picked up my book on Indian philosophy today :qsml: I'll have to study from now on XD

And bf decided the PC monitor is too big... :qsweat: Hopefully we'll be able to return it and buy a smaller one. Damn you pixels! :qd:

@Saokymo - thank you so much for that link! I think it will come in a lot of handy. Thank you also for the compliment. I want to make a knuffel one day too but i'm not there yet. <3

@memo - lol, your mom sounds so familiar. We've been dealing with getting rid of Alan's grandparents things. To call them hoarders would be a severe underestimate. I kid you not, cleaning out their garage? We've made at least 5 trips to the dump alone with nothing but empty cardboard boxes. I am not kidding. And his grandpa used to work on cars so there have been literal tons of random metal bits and pieces - still literal tons more in there. It's really kind of amazing. They both grew up and went through the depression and so I think thats why they threw literally nothing away. But now they think, well, grandpa's gone but grandma thinks everything she has is a golden treasure that someone, somewhere will want. Ugh.

Indian philosophy, American Indian or India Indian? I think both are fascinating - but I like lore a lot. I recently found out that i'm 25% Irish and I never knew that. I want to read about their lore - always did have a thing for the fae.

Lawl, too big awww :P

It's not even the fact she's a hoarder (although she is, just like her mom/my grandma is and just like her grandfather/my grand-grandfather used to be -.-), but she's just a messy person. Tons of stuff she doesn't use and doesn't intend to use, she knows it belongs to trash, but still all I hear is "I don't have the time, you have to come help me" and all sorts of excuses. And now that I offered her my help, when she finally had a day off (literally never happens), she goes all coocoo bananas about Dami being "mean". Which is certainly not true. The problem is she has no distance to her own person. Laugh at others? Sure! Laugh at myself? GTFO! #%^&I&^%$#!@%$*(*^%$ :qs: Today I felt really ashamed about her behavior -.-; I mean I understand she's ashamed, but don't blame it on my bf only because you don't have your other daughter's husband around. Men aren't enemies, you know? And she treats every male like he's attacking her.
But the story about Alan's grandparents is very familiar too, to me. I remember cleaning out the apartment after grand-grandparents. Grandpa used to hoard series of scientific and religious magazines, tons of segregators, also newspapers. -.-;

Indian as in India, I studied Indology (studies about India) on my uni. I still have to pass that stupid exam, because the professor was like "philosophy teaches you how to think, without it you cannot think, philosophy is necessary for your existence". And I'm like "Oh really? teaches me to think? you mean inside the box, not outside of it? :qstr: " He could not comprehend someone might not want to become a philosopher themselves, but jonly ust to pass the subject and get the heck out of there. :qd:
But yeah, it's fascinating. But for me the condition is, I have to want to explore the topic myself. Otherwise, if you force me, I'm having hard time learning what I should. Like, I'd gladly read about the philosophy, but for example only concerning theories about a god. That would maybe provide me with some inspiration to my book. But basically philosophy is just gibberish to me :qhehe:
25% Irish, that's nice! :qg: If that would be me, I'd probably be reading Irish folklore and mythology right now XD Lol, I would love to know something about my bloodline. All I know is I have some Hungarian nobility ancestor, but nothing more really.

Yeah, too big... -.-; The resolution isn't right and he didn't know it would be. When a game or a movie is on, it looks fine. The problem is with reading, you can see all the pixels of each letter. It looks awful ;/ And Dami is the person who likes to read a thing or two.

I'm sorry about your mom. People like that are incredibly hard to deal with and it seems that they are often times too hard headed to listen to reason and understand that you are trying to help them. My grandma is like that only she prefers men, she's always, always nicer to men. We once went to help Alan's mother get moved into her apartment because a year after moving in she was still living out of boxes! How can you not find one day to take care of these things? Some people never learn valuable life skills I guess? I dunno!

India! Neat - I don't know a lot but what I do know is fascinating. I think it's interesting how basically every village or community kinda has their own tweaks to their religion. Must get confusing!

Philosophy is so confusing because yeah, you talk about all these old men who had opinions and they sorted out ways that they made sense and the end. Period. This is what I think, this is why and period. Um..no. It's interesting but it's just opinions! I think anyway.

Yeah, Alan and I both have some holes in our genealogy, I never met my father and his dad is adopted so when I got pregnant we wanted Elisabeth to know where she came from so we both did a DNA screening thing. Never knew my whole life! I was always told I was Hungarian too but the thing just says Eastern European, it's not specific on that part.

I hope he finds a better monitor! I can imagine that is aggravating and besides, you pay money for things, they should work how you want them to work.

We just gave the dogs baths - Sadie is running around like a crazy thing. It's pretty funny.
