Haha, well, maybe it depends on the accents, but German usually sounds harsh (back when I was learning it, I'd always soften the "ch" because it just sounded better x.x), and Italians (as far as my experience goes) cannot speak quiet for their lives I mean seriously, you're in a forest, you don't have to yell over to the person strolling right next to you I suppose it's cultural for them
Too bad you couldn't make it, but hopefully you'll get on the course *fingers crossed* I remember the pain of not being able to enroll to some class, but on our uni it's just "no space - gtfo" I mean they make a few exceptions sometimes, but it's too much effort and going places and talking to people and mem gots scared as a bunny x.x Luckily that's behind me now

Hm, I think the not speaking quiet is not so bad to me because I tend to speak loudly myself as well. Or at least my bf always complains that I do, I don't notice it :D
Hm, luckily for us it's all online, you don't really have to go anywhere and talk to people. But yeah, I mean, I understand they can only fit so many people into one room, but if all the classes are full after half a day, maybe it would be a good idea to just offer more?

I am also struggling with completing a few things mem. I recently started on doing two things on your list though, exercising regularly and revising my Swedish. Works pretty well so far ^.^ If I can do it, you can do it, too :P

I do not order food though. Very rarely and only when I am with other people. Ordered for myself only a month a go, as a gift for myself for finishing the thesis. Felt weird xD And it's expensive.

Aw, what a bummer Chrizine, but I wish you luck! I wanted to take another Swedish class past semester, but unfortunately it was too full and I did not make it. I will try again this time. The deadline has not begun yet though. We have free language courses at our uni as well..

Russian, German, Polish sounds harsh, I agree on that (Russian is my mother tongue and I am living in Germany since 2000).

Haha, yes, it depends on the country and education system and everything, so not everybody speaks English. (tho just yesterday I wondered what it's like to have most of the world just speak/write your native language and so you can easily understand about anything you see/hear without having to learn anything... sounds convenient. Unless it's broken English like "me be Kali, me cow like" )

Thanks mem! I really hope I can get into the course. But I am quite confident that it will work out as it's obligatory for me in my Master's degree to take a course in a non-standard European language :D

Oftentimes native English speakers tend to think that it is unnecessary to learn other languages because everyone speaks English. I am glad you do not think that way :)

Lol, yea, it was like:
me: hon, we need to stop ordering food.
bf: yea, I know. Let's say one dish costs 20, times 2, that's 40 a day, and times 6, cause maybe one day a week we cook something. So that's somehing about 250 a week, it makes 1k per month...
me: we have to stop this madness x.x
