Actually no. They give you the receipt and always always put the coins on top of it, or put the coins on top of the bills so you can just slide everything into your coin purse without even touching them.

In the year I worked there there were so many incidents with counterfeit money. We had to be diligent and check the $50 notes that came in and management encouraged us to refuse $100 bills and eventually $50 bills although we still accepted the $50s majority of the time. I've come to have a good eye for counterfeit, you can mostly tell by touch and sometimes you'll see Australian cashiers bring the note up to the light to view the security checks (5 point star, barcodes). We're getting new notes now with a transparent window along the width of the note and phasing out the old ones in the hopes of making it even more difficult to produce counterfeit money. I think so far we have new 5s and 10s soon.

I think it's significantly different for you as I'm on Australian time so whatever time it is right now is good for picking a number and then I usually wait for another 3 hours to roll unless I'm distracted by work.

Aw, gee, that's so flattering, especially considering how lazy I can be with typing on KofK. XD I would love to be a writer, but I am too undisciplined and burn out quickly.

I actually work in a playhouse right now (the whole theater arts bit), but I would love to be a librarian or work in a library. I have a certificate, but the field is competitive because librarians don't retire. (Well, they do, but they retire super old.)

Ohh, that sounds interesting. I suppose that does fall into the same creativity area. What do you do in this playhouse? Are you crew, an actor, tech? O: Although when you said playhouse I thought you meant strip club (not judging anyone who does work in a strip club) but we had a place called "Sefton Playhouse" near my highschool that was a strip club.

Do people become librarians by luck then? I would like my own personal library when I get a home :D Build it like Beauty and the Beast but maybe not that extravagant as it'll be difficult to clean.

Aha, I just sell tickets to customers, talk to promoters (the dudes who are planning the events), and help set up events. My manager finds me to be one of the more reliable staff members, so she has this habit of working me like a dog. *facehands* Apparently the reward for a good job is not a raise, but more work.

Last Saturday was so nuts, I actually wanted to quit. I have a coworker who's worked the same amount of time as me (two years or so), but because he's careless with the system, she's hesitant to let him sell. As a result, I sold most of the tickets on that show day on my own. x__x And the crowd was a cash crowd and they were gruuuumpy.

At one point, I actually wanted to puke. I have some issues with anxiety, and usually it's not too bad, but that night was just awful and my manager and the promoter and the crowd combined made it worse. I keep telling my manager we need another staff member, but she just says it will cut into our hours. At this point though, I want it, because I hate the idea of being unable to get sick or being stuck working certain days.

UGH. Sorry for the rant --I usually try not to do that.

Aha, dang, I cannot imagine myself working at a strip club. It's definitely not for me; the only time I don't mind seeing barely clothed people is at a spa, and to a lesser extent (where they are clothed somewhat) at a beach or pool.

I think part of it is being super qualified, and part of it is knowing people, and part of it is luck, yes. I have tried to apply before, but it makes me discouraged.

Aha, I'd love to have my own library too! I'm sorta there in the sense that I hoard books, but I don't have any place to put them. The majority are in boxes in the closet.

Ah, so it's about coins you receive back as change! I was thinking about you taking coins out of your purse to pay with them.

Wow, Poshi, I wouldn't have thought that that happens so much (counterfeit money)! Do you think the new notes are better to check for being counterfeit?
We're getting/have gotten some new ones as well (I'm using two currencies because I live in germany but study over the border in switzerland, I think the euros are done with getting new notes now, the swiss franc is still in the process) and at first I found it really irritating. The notes became smaller and more plasticy feeling, we were all making jokes about them seeming like money for a boardgame. But I've gotten used to it now :D

Wow, Mikael, that sounds like a really stressful night for you! Have you told your manager that you wouldn't mind a new staff member costing you some hours?
