There are 13 breeds of dragons (so 13 types of dragons) with dozens of colors and patterns you can choose. There are patterns for three parts of the dragon, usually: body and wings, and the third may either affect the belly or the dragon over all. When you breed dragons, their offspring will be either breed of the parents, with colors between the ranges of the parents, and the pattern (they're called genes) one of those of the parent's. The result depends on the rarity of the genes, but it's all also generated. On top of that, you can also add skin (like an extra layer of pattern over the dragon) and clothes.
Male and females of the different breeds also are drawn differently. (The hatchlings --baby dragons, aren't sexually dimorphic, though.)
I don't have may I've dressed up, but here's an example of one. Lucretia is a "coatl" breed (they have snake tongues), and she's wearing a skin (that's why she looks like her head's a skull) and apparel.
In comparison, Kaden is an imperial breed, and he's not wearing anything. However, he has three patterns on him. His wings are a butterfly pattern, and he has a matching petals pattern for the body. His belly pattern is a glimmer (meaning that it sparkles).
Oh, nice. I think this is my third, although I can't recall the first time I hit the CC.
