Does Doc Savage use pressure points to magically render people unconscious? Is Doc Savage secretly Mr. Spock?

Good. That is anathema.
I don't really know how distant 3rd works - are you playing an RTF with your characters? How do you do emotions if you have to stay out of their heads? And are you seriously asking that of the person who just claimed to only use close 3rd person? I don't use 1st person because it feels weird and wrong. I might as well do 2nd and write Homestuck fanfics.

Plan some scenes that you can get excited about. If you can't make new scenes, rework the ones you've got so you're excited about them, instead. Why weren't you committed to the romance from the beginning? Why include it if you're not committed?
Pretty good. I know I flag in the second half, and that's happening, so it's hard to stay well-behaved about meeting my word count every day. Trying to start making it up today. We should commit to writing parties while you're here. Jared and Dad can play, too.

Yes. Doc Savage = Spock Savage.

I don't know how to explain it. I don't use omniscient POV, it's just a form of 3rd person personal. I think of 3rd person personal as existing on a spectrum, like from -1 to 1. At -1 the narration is basically the same as the viewpoint character's thoughts, and might be indistinguishable from 1st with the pronouns changed. At 1 the narrator is basically their own character, who only has access to the perceptions of the viewpoint character, but might have completely different opinions about what is happening. I try to write at about a 0, where the narration is more neutral and neither attempts to follow the viewpoint character's thoughts nor injects any other opinions. But I keep slipping in bits that feel more -1. Does that make sense?
I recommend you throw out your standards and write in 2nd person. It will be a learning experience.

I wasn't committed to the romance because I knew the love interest wouldn't show up until halfway through the book. That's not a lot of time to invest in a relationship. But now it's helping move things along. I'm working on getting excited about the final sequence of events, and the romance should help with that.
You recognize that you have a bad habit, and that... makes it harder to not engage in the bad habit? Isn't that backward? Shouldn't knowing that you tend to drop off make you more determined not to?

I just gave blood and WOW I AM NOT IN A GOOD PLACE. I almost fainted during the blood draw. I pretended to be fine, but the staff knew better than to believe me, so they made me lie down and drink a juice. This made me embarrassed, so I tried my best to hightail it out of there as quickly as possible. BAD PLAN. My vision completely whited out three times on the way back to my office, and I came very close to passing out on the sidewalk. I think I looked drunk. Walking was hard and my head was super light. I sat down in four really awkward places, including one random patch of sidewalk, in an attempt to remain conscious. I finally made it back to my office and ate food and drank water, and I'm doing better now, but I'm very cold and still kind of light-headed.

I wouldn't have been so stupid trying to get back to my office, except that my period is starting and my cramps were so bad I wasn't thinking straight. I was desperate to get to my painkillers. It was a bad time all around.

Narrator is non-person. Narrator is not permitted to hold opinions or express them. No.
I recommend you throw out your standards and write entirely in omniscient stream of consciousness. All thoughts must be expressed. At all times. Do not use tags to differentiate between characters.

Sounds like a good plan. Otherwise, the romance sounds frivolous and you should just remove it entirely.
Knowing I have it doesn't make me any better at avoiding it. You can't fight FATE.

Sounds like you're a little small to be giving blood. Did they say how much hemoglobin you had? Will they tell you your blood type? Have you constructed a plan so you don't nearly pass out on the sidewalk next time?

That's an awfully newfangled view you have. In 19th century literature it was almost standard for the narration to have its own opinions, usually matching the author's. It made it easier to Jane Austen to comment on when her characters were being foolish, for one thing.
Am I allowed to strictly limit the number of characters in a scene? If so, challenge accepted, provided you write a 2nd-person story to go along with it. Meet me behind the bleachers. Let's do this.

Apparently, you can't fight FATE and you can't play FATE, because I won't GM it for you. Perhaps you should ignore FATE entirely.

I don't think I'm that small! I'm over the 110 lb minimum. It was a little unsettling to see the bag of blood they took out of me and realize that it was almost 1% of my person, though. They didn't say how much hemoglobin I had, and I didn't ask about blood type. I probably should have. I don't have a plan for not fainting, beyond... not being so eager to hightail it out of there? I have until January to work it out.

I am the future.
You can limit the characters in a scene, but it's hard to limit the number of characters in the universe. They must all be heard. I'd be happy to rewrite your story in 2nd person once you've written it. I'll be waiting here behind these bleachers. It's cozy here.

I don't care if you won't GM FATE for me. I will GM FATE for all of us. I'm still here behind the bleachers, BTW.

You're pretty close to the minimum, considering the full range of possible human weights. Did you donate to the Red Cross? They were very particular about my hemoglobin. Did they test your finger before letting you donate? If not, sign me up. I am all about shady back-alley blood donations.

You seem to have a very limited view of universes. Maybe my universe is about to experience heat death and there's only a small pocket of sentient survivors left. Maybe my universe is a pocket universe with only a forgotten goldfish in it. Maybe my universe only contains hive-minds so most thoughts are identical among all beings. YOU DON'T KNOW.

Really? I didn't think your devotion to FATE was so GREAT. Will we all have to meet behind the bleachers?

I thought the whole point of the minimum was that if you were over it, you were good. Otherwise why have a minimum? Although they did give me an awful lot of handouts that mentioned the possibility of fainting. Maybe some people are just faint-ier in general? I do have a history of it.
It was the Red Cross, yeah. They tested my hemoglobin and thought it was A-OK. I didn't pay attention to the number, though. And I think they told me my blood type, but I was busy being nervous and didn't listen.

T-1.5 days until I achieve Minnesota.

Are you excluding bacteria from your universe? Are you saying bacteria don't have thoughts? Or feelings? HOW CRUEL.

We can have a party behind the bleachers. It's pretty great. Like my devotion to FATE.

There's a minimum because it's physically dangerous to give that amount of blood if you're too small. Blood volume, etc. Fainting isn't a long-term health hazard, so long as you don't do something stupid and try to speed-walk back to your office immediately afterward.
Wow. It must be nice to have so much hemoglobin that you don't even think about it. How could you not listen to your blood type??? But if it's the Red Cross, you can make an account online and they should have all of the data available for you there. There's even an app.

Will you arrive before 7pm? We're going to be at trivia 7-9pm on Wednesday. You can come and have dinner with us (and participate).

Yup. I'm being bacteria-exclusionist. They are not valid and do not have my support.

I question your devotion to a system that is based on the hated 6-sided die. Only six sides to return your love. That's not a lot of love.

I wasn't speed-walking. I was just walking. Remaining upright was the point of difficulty.
Should I be discreet about showing off my hemoglobins when I'm at home, so you don't get jealous? I wouldn't want to cause a family crisis.
Why does the Red Cross need an app? What sort of blood-donation hijinks do people get up to on the go?

We will almost certainly not arrive before 7pm. We will be lucky to arrive before 10pm. If traffic is worse than expected, we may not arrive before 12am.

Offended.

You can use a d20 as a d6. Just divide everything by 3 and ignore 19 and 20. It's fine. See how devoted I am?

Fleeing can be considered speed walking, at least in intent. Please keep your hemoglobins to yourself; it is hurtful to flaunt them.
It tells you when you last donated, when you can donate again, different donation type options, you can book appointments, any tests done on your blood are there, etc.

It's the day before Thanksgiving. How bad do you expect traffic to be?

Double post!!!

You didn't answer me in the email chain. Are we doing hooks, and may I earn an extra cliche point by writing a backstory? My choice of a hook would be related to my backstory from when I first started out in occult things - maybe a wooden leg? It wasn't a great start.

Do you have a preference for what type of Mysterious Foreigner I am? I have been leaning towards Hungarian, because I just found out I know almost nothing about Hungary. Did you know they write their names as Surname Given? It's like Japanese.
