I am not finished yet, because it is not yet December. I'm torn on whether or not to keep going after, though. It's definitely not the sort of thing that I want to see the light of day, but it also feels like it could be pretty decent if I edited it. But it also needs to be a lot longer. And there were some hand-wavy bits that I don't really want to research enough to fix. And some of the voices still aren't nearly right. I think I need to add a separate viewpoint character to tie some of the plotty bits together better. I think I accidentally introduced a theme, and I'm not sure I approve of it. I want to read it! I love sub-genre cliches, and there's a good chance I haven't even seen these ones before, since I don't frequent the Marvel fandom or the Pern setting.
Every time I think about the structure of my story I feel deeply disappointed in myself, but there's a lot about it other than the structure that I love. And I'm still enjoying writing it, for some reason. It's weird to think that it will never be good but that I can, theoretically, turn it into a finished product anyway.
