I enjoyed it. It was very much the fantasy of someone who wants to blame their failings on a secret government conspiracy. Not as high proportion of humor as the trailer would lead us to believe. Nice to see Eric from That 70's Show again.

I haven't bought any anime recently. We'll see.

Yeah. Those are the sort of fans I'm talking about. I don't bother with the angry ones.
Either they were there from the beginning, or they grew up with the original movies and it's like a religion. That's what I was thinking when we were at the theater with Dad and Uncle Doug. Both are strong sources of deep feelings. The Bible is the only book you need to read, after all.
Have you noticed the new movies and the old movies (we're ignoring those middle movies) echo the generations of the fandom? Like it's a very strong statement that the First Order is a pale imitation of the empire. Not to say that they aren't adept at the murdering and subjugating, but it seems like it doesn't matter very much. I'm having trouble articulating it, but it makes me uncomfortable.

I would try for another run through SG1 with you (ha), but I just started Hannibal. It is also free on Prime. I paid 40-some dollars for this and I'm doomed to exact value from it.

Trailers are always liars about the humor. Everything puts all its jokes in the trailer these days.

I hadn't noticed it, and now that I do, I don't like it. I'd like to think it's more a side effect of our current reboot climate than an intentional statement.

Is Hannibal even good? Does it have anything to distinguish itself other than the cannibalism? Cannibalism can only get you so far.

The internet informs me that upstanding citizens are only allowed to fangirl over one (1) murderboy. I'm worried I may be over the limit. My question is whether I'm allowed to ship them with people, as long as I don't actively fangirl them outside the ship? Like, can I think they're the worst, but still think they'd be hot in certain relationships? I want to maintain my self-respect and upstanding status.

It had more funny than was in the trailer. It just also had a lot more murdering people with household objects and a bit of drama.

Is it any less powerful a statement for being unintentional?

I'm liking it so far, but you know how I am with crime procedurals and eccentric white dudes. The white dudes are very eccentric. They really put a lot of effort into making the crimes bizarre (to the point of absurdity), and Minnesota is a major setting, so that's fun. I don't think they truly understood how far apart Bloomington and Duluth are. I very much like how good they are at other details, like how they were able to make slightly insincere family photos for a rich family - I thought they looked odd before the characters pointed it out. It seems like they have a good grasp of how to be non-neurotypical that resonates with me. Maybe that's why the internet likes Hannibal.

Oops. Am I not an upstanding citizen? I think I might not be. Does it count if I call it fanpersoning? I will call myself a fanperson to get around the rule.
I'm not sure these "murderboys" of yours can be hot without the constant threat of murder. Even my hannibal-is-not-a-cannibal regency fic had a threat of murder for at least 15 chapters. It was fake, but the potential murder-ee believed it was real.
Reject the internet's rule. Your self-respect is your own business. That's why it's called self-respect. You can lose all other forms of respect so long as you maintain deep confidence in yourself. That's one reason I'm not into calling myself trash. Am I reading a Buzzfeed RPF right now? At this very moment? Maybe. Am I ashamed? Somewhat. Hypothetically. It's trashy. But I'm not trash for enjoying it. And I can like all the fake serial killers I want.

Does it actually look like Minnesota, though? Or just like Vancouver? Many Vancouvers have pretended to be us over the years.

The original dictum didn't use the word fangirl. It used the new, trendier, gender-neutral "stan", which I do not like. Full text: "everyone on earth gets to stan 1 irredeemable fictional murderboy with a vaguely sad backstory. but you only get 1. if you exceed that limit the cia takes you out."
I don't think I can reject the internet's rule, and not only because I don't want to get taken out by the CIA. I don't want to be the sort of person who fangirls over characters whose only redeeming characteristics are being hot and possibly witty. I don't want to find their murderingness appealing. I want to have higher standards than that. I just... don't.

It could just as well be Vancouver as anywhere, I guess.

I've never heard of it, so I don't think it's as trendy as you might have been led to believe. And so far he doesn't have any sort of sad backstory, so it doesn't count. He doesn't have any backstory at all. He's just suave and murders people and eats them.
I care much more about their wittiness than about their hotness. That has to count for something. My standards are exactly as high as I want them to be.

How was drive? How is Chunko?

Clearly you've never been to tumblr. "Stan" everything. So annoying.
You still watching it? How much is there?
I envy your level of comfort with your own trashiness.

The drive gets easier every time. Highway hypnosis is real, though. I hope I don't ever get too hypnotized and die.
Chunko spent a lot of time inspecting the apartment to make sure it was still up to her specifications. She has also been extra needy and loud recently. She wasn't too happy with how cold the place had gotten in our absence.
Did you know memory foam and similar materials stiffen in the cold? My bed was like plywood. Plus side, the fruit fly infestation is well and truly gone.

Project Runway All Stars is back on TV. Michael Costello was a guest judge, and was introduced as "one of the most successful Project Runway alumni of all time". Apparently he dresses Beyonce these days. I'm sure it felt particularly poetic that he got to judge people who had originally been on his season, although I don't think Casanova was ever mean to him?

I used the instant pot again today. Potatoes. I'm running out of tupperware to store the things I make. It's just too convenient.

I hate tumblr. I never go there. True.
Yes. 13 episodes in the first season, and more seasons after? I don't know. I'm not done with the first 13 yet.
Join me. Search your feelings. Etc.

I had a much easier time paying attention to the drive to WI when it was snowing and slippery, since I was actively trying not to die the whole time. Just do that.
Poor kitty.
I think I knew that. It's good that they're gone if they were feeding on your life force. Don't let them come back. Never eat fruit.

Yeah, we looked him up and Dad was very relieved that he was doing well. He's right up there with Christian Siriano. Casanova specifically stated that he didn't have anything against Michael, but he also loved drama.

You need to eat the things too, you know. Right? You know? What sort of potatoes? I baked some potatoes.

How long does it take to watch 13 episodes? I thought watching stuff was all you did when you were alone. Did you find more Buzzfeed, or something?

I'm usually passively trying not to die, but being active about it is harder. Takes concentration. The road wasn't nice enough to give me nasty conditions to struggle against.
I finally gave in and turned on the main heater in my apartment, rather than relying upon one small heater. I had to drag all my furniture away from it first, so as to not start fires, which was a hassle. I feel like I've given up. I'm warm, though.

Michael C. probably didn't feel too much vindictive glee booting Casanova off All Stars in the very first episode, then. Casanova had, miraculously, managed to combine his old lady and stripper aesthetics in a single outfit, with the disastrous result of pairing a dowdy old blouse with nonexistent pants.

It's more fun to keep cooking new things than to eat leftovers. Plus, I was saving the leftovers for when I would need to bring lunches to the office, which I'm doing now. I made cheesy ranch potato... cube things. Everything that comes out of the Instant Pot has the same soft, moist consistency, which is tasty, but I don't know what to call call it. Did you bake potatoes at home, or at your weird house?

I only watch a few at a time. It makes me feel more like I'm something wearing a person suit when I watch too much. I'm done with the first season now.

I'm sorry you were forced to heat your home. That must be tough. Is it finally getting cold in Ohio? It just warmed up here, and is preparing to dump on us tomorrow night or Thursday.

We knew it was coming. Everybody knew. It was only a matter of time. Somebody needs to serve the old lady stripper niche.

I'm glad you are having fun with the Pot. I'm jealous.
Could it be... cooked? The foods are fully cooked? I made the potatoes at home and shared with Dad. He used one as a hand warmer.

Do you have a committee yet? Are you going to any meetings this year? Would you be interested in a work week at home in early summer?

I created an Instagram account to follow tattoo artists. There's a really great biomechanical guy in Montreal. I might need to drive up to Montreal.

But watching infinite hours of Buzzfeed Unsolved in a row didn't give you any weird feelings whatsoever. Okay.
I've been watching Star Trek, but there is a lot of it and I can only get in a couple of episodes a day, at best, so progress is much slow.

It is not cold. I thought it was nice and chilly, when I got back, because it was 10 degrees and snowy, but this week has thawed disgustingly. I may go back to not heating my home. It's supposed to snow very much this Friday, though.
Make sure the ponies don't get buried. Also, could you water my orchid?

Cooked. Ah yes. Not baked potato, or roasted chicken, merely "cooked food". I will be sure to "cook" a lot of "food".
Did dad put his hand inside the potato?! Like a squishy glove?!

No committee yet. Not sure about meetings yet. Will know more once I talk to John this Thursday.
Why work from home?

Why must you follow them? Can't you just decide you like them, and then get the tattoo?
