I haven't read moby dick (shame on me) but I know when a book is too slow, I lose concentration quickly. not sure if that has always been the case for me but I suspect it has something to do with being used to getting information fast and constantly.

are you enjoying reading HP in english?

I have a couple of books I didn't finish yet for the same reason. One I'm determined to finish this year, I've been reading it since uni... so 6 years ahaha that's bad.

It probably helps that I'm reading in my own native language, let's be fair :P

I have a few books that I've been reading for years. I will probably officially give up on most of them eventually lol.

One book I ended up giving up on after a few years of trying was Lorna Doone. I loved the movie when I was a kid, but imagine my dismay to discover it was written in a dialect of English from hundreds of years ago... I mean I hate it when authors write speech in dialect as it is, but it was the whole text.

I started reading Lorna Doone, but I didn't make it very far. Literally just a few pages. I will try it again someday. I've never seen the movie.

I can say for sure it's definitely better XD I mean I don't remember it very well now, but almost anything was better than reading dialect~

If you're reading a book for so long, don't you kind of forget what's happening?
@Jacobgrey, what book are you reading? I'm kinda curious if your taking multiple years and are so determined to finish it :mcshock:

@Wulfilalice: That sounds promising for the Witcher!
And I've added Masque to my to-do list. Since it was released before the rest, I'm okay with also reading it before the rest. Though I'm not sure when I'll actually get to reading books from my to-do list :mcheh:

And it's okay to add me. But I believe I use my real name on goodreads and I couldn't find you for some reason...

It's called 'On Photography' by Susan Sontag. It was actually part of my uni course materials haha, not that we ever had to read it for class. It's really interesting but super dense, it uses its own vocabulary that Sontag made up or helped make up with other people. So you have to keep the terms in mind and interpret everything to try and understand pretty complex concepts.

Also she's kind of dry with her writing style, so it takes me a lot XD
