I also don't really have issues with subtitles on TV shows -we always prefer to watch the original language with subtitles. The German dubbing sometims drives me crazy. It's not even that the voice actors were bad, I don't think they are! It's more that the way they translated the text is often very weird, because of course they try to make it as synchronous to the lip movement as possible and that doesn't always work well.
For example, in English you would say "I saw a deer" and in German every sane person would say "Ich habe ein Reh gesehen". But because that is longer, they rather translate it to "Ich sah ein Reh", which is basically the 1:1 translation of the English sentence and fits better with the lip movement. And while it is a grammatically correct sentence, no one talks like this!!!
It sounds horribly courtly and a bit archaic. It could fit into a medivial setting maybe, but sounds so wrong to me in every other movie/show.
So the result is that in most TV shows and moves that were dubbed into German, everyone is just talking very weird and I can't stand it, so I prefer to watch the English original with subtitles. And don't even get me started on the whole You = Sie/Du thing.
