@Julez don't think of it like Twilight or etc, it's very different than that 8D the vampire part is almost incidental I guess, it's more about the relationships and the circumstances.

I had a funny thing with reviews yesterday. I read the reviews for The Scarlet Letter and there was one which summed up my thoughts perfectly in this really funny satire. Best part: Someone I actually know well even commented on that review saying how much they found it funny, and she and I never talked about this book at all XD

I agree about the reviews!
Unless they are all negative, then I will probably take them into account.

Okay that sounds cool then, jacob!

Oh that's funny indeed.
I also read The Scarlett Letter a while ago for uni. I thought it was not too bad.

I quite liked the storyline, I just wished he would get to the point XD Although I think I would like it more if I had studied it, because I'm sure there were references and meanings below the text that I wouldn't get without help.

I like to ignore reviews completely most of the time. If I do read them, usually I'm looking for some clue about how the storyline will go, if the blurb is too vague.

I also don't look at reviews actually. I mostly do not care :P

There are a few hints here and there, yes. But admittedly the beginning was hard to read for me, but it got better with the course of the story.

You know those little review quotes that are sometimes on books? Those are what really affect me. They always make me wanna read the book more even though I know they're really biased.

I have a feeling it's because I don't read much so I have trouble deciding if i'll like a book before I buy it. Blurbs might be the obvious way of deciding but you just never know if you're going to like a book even if the blurb sounds amazing. I guess i'm just sitting on the fence a lot of the time, unsure about a book, and then I read the lil review thingos and it pushes me juust enough to tip me over the edge and make me decide that this book is worth buying after all.

I don't trust those ones at all because they're often misquoted XD Like, I could say "It could be excellent if they changed everything about it" and the cover quote will just say "excellent!"
Or even sneakier: "Everything about it... excellent!"

There are a lot of examples of this which have been documented, it's kind of crazy.
