Highs of 30-35 degrees (C). Generally the average daily temperature has been about 28 I think. Much higher than we're used to, certainly for such a long period of time.

ooh yeah that's pretty hot. I watched a video buy someone on youtube who said that England is also not very equipped for dealing with the heat because it's usually not a problem, so if that is true you must be pretty frustrated by the heat wave.

Weather is weird though. It was the middle of winter last month and we had a 22 degree day last week :mcconf:

It's rained a couple of times this week :3 raining now too. I'm so happy haha.

Yeah we're not at all used to it. It's simple things like the fact that our railways weren't built to withstand high temperatures, so the tracks have been buckling and causing huge delays. And if you're stuck on a train without air conditioning, which I have been several times so far, you just start to melt. So it's a big knock-on effect which ends up being just a lot of hard work to deal with.

I just finished another one, 'The Dying Hour' by Rick Mofina. I really recommend it to anyone who likes crime fiction. It's set near Seattle but the guy travels around a lot of the Washington and Oregon area and, having been there myself, it's all really accurate and makes it all feel more real.

Now I'm going for a romance next, I like to try to balance things with a romance followed by a crime followed by a romance XD Seems like everything I read is those genres right now.

I'd never even thought about the fact that it wouldn't be equipped for the heat before I watched his video. Any time I hear about a heat wave in England everyone is always like "a heat wave? it sounds like a nice day" but even on a 'nice day' I can't imagine not having aircon in case you need it, especially on a crowded, delayed train :mcshock:

Not a lot of places do. We only have heating in our home, for example, not cooling systems, so our version of air con at home has been having the door open XD It hasn't been helping much. Most businesses have air con these days, but a lot of places with smaller budgets have just had a big fan set up near the tills to keep the staff cool and that's all.

What else... oh yes, we're going into a hosepipe ban because we don't have enough water reserves to cope with keeping plants alive haha. Even though no one has been bothering much with that, like I said before. Even the small amount being used is too much.

Lots of pipes and systems shutting down and bursting/melting too. My block is built on "stilts" to avoid flooding when it rains a lot, but we still can't cope with sun X'D
