That's harder, to my mind. That's an ongoing, you have to live with it forever thing, instead of one single moment that's the exception instead of the rule.

There you go, buddy 8ub

People want to talk about mental illness when someone dies or kills people, but then stop taking it seriously until it happens again.
I don't have anything horrible like Schizophrenia, but I have gone without my medication and I felt really unstable and capable of doing harm xD

Moi - you are super lucky that none of your doctors have treated you like nothing was wrong with you. It sucks super hard.

I'm also trying to get disability. Twinsies. It's probably gonna take her forever though. Just a warning. Is she able to work at all or is she completely kaput now?

Ms_Zuralli - I would have stayed with my mom if she didn't drive me bat shit insane. lol. So awful living with her. She is not the greatest person.

I'm glad that you don't have a bunch of stuff wrong with you! That's nice. Though I hear PCOS is not super fun to deal with.

Ah, yes. Smaller portions would probably help. But most of my eating is not great. I tend to get easy things to eat. Like chips or popcorn. Things that I don't have to slave over a stove to cook since I can't do that very much.

I honestly need to cook more. It's just so exhausting for me. And my husband's depression is super severe too so he struggles to do anything as well. Our house is a complete disaster. I wish we could afford to get a nurse or a maid or something to help out around the home. It wouldn't be so overwhelming if there was someone around to help pick up the slack.

A rheumatologist would help diagnose the condition. But besides a bunch of physical therapy and sometimes surgery there's not much to do to actually help the condition get any better.

Deer In Gray - Sounds super lameeeee. I had a psychaitrist for the longest time and when I started having trouble at work I was like anything to help? (with constant exhaustion, unable to do anything, severe anxiety, unable to focus) Nope. I asked my reg doctor too. I ended up getting fired. Good times.
I would tell him he need to help you or you gonna fire his ass and get someone who will help.

I'd also report his ass for short changing you on your therapy times. That's bullshit.

Actually, I did have a doctor kind of dismiss me once. But I wasn't seeing him - my mom was.
I told him I get a pain in my hip area and he said "Those are just cramps."
I still get the pain and it's steadily increased and gotten more frequent since then.
It's like a really bad stabbing pain and doesn't feel like a cramp at all.
But I just assumed "He's a doctor and I'm not, so he must be right."

Well, she got it already, but she had to go away and lost it. She's trying to get it back now.
I don't see why she wouldn't get it back.
She already had tests done, seen their doctors, hired a lawyer, etc.
So it's not like her disabilities just disappeared xD

If he didn't even look at you he has no idea. But to be fair, you weren't his patient so he prolly didn't want to get into it.

Tell your regular doctor about the hip pain. They can look into it further.

Oh, you don't get disability in jail? Like I could understand not getting paid, since you don't have that many expenses. But I feel like they should have just paused it.

A had a lawyer but they abandoned me. Oh well.

I don't even know if I should tell my new doctor.
I've had an exam and an ultrasound and nothing was found.
So maybe it is just cramps.

No, she didn't get anything in there. She got something saying she wasn't allowed to lift over 20 pounds.
She actually hurt her ankle really bad in there and this one guard was yelling at her and acting like my mom was lying about being hurt.
My mom said her ankle is still messed up.
She had bleeding ulcers and since she's been out, her stomach is really messed up.
She doesn't have Medicaid yet and she can't go see a doctor.
She just sits at home in pain because she can't go see the doctor.

I actually had to send in a concern/complaint about my dad.
He has diabetes and his kidneys are only functioning at 39% and he has sleep apnea and Narcolepsy.
He actually called and told me that he passed out because he was too dehydrated.
They weren't taking him seriously and even called him lazy because he kept falling asleep.
I kept the complaint civil, but I was angry.
And he called and told me that they're taking better care of him now.

>8u quitter lawyer.
I don't see why my mom, you and my friend are having so much trouble.
I got mine almost immediately oO

Is the pain still occuring? Is it usually only happening around your period? You might have a small cyst on your ovary. That can cause flaring pain sometimes.

We that's nice at least I guess. Did she have a job there?

Guards are often dicks.

I hope her shit comes in soon.

I'm glad they're treating him a little better. It sucks you had to remind them that he's human.

Were you underage when you first got it? And also in the midst of a mental breakdown? I feel like that could be a factor.

With all the medical advances that have been made, mental illness is mostly always swept under the rug until it becomes an issue, some "important" celebrity develops one, people need it as a scapegoat for something someone did, or a way to brush someone's concerns off with the phrase "it's all in your head". It's unfortunate that mental illnesses aren't looked at with the same...respect doesn't seem like the right word, but it's the one I'm going to use, as other diseases and maladies are.

light_sucks: What about crock pot meals? I've never done them since I do not own a recipe book for it (I need some guidance when it comes to cooking or else there will be some interesting and probably inedible mixtures...), but I've heard they're pretty simple. So simple in fact that just adding chicken breast and a couple of cans of soup and you have a delicious meal, though I don't know if that is true or not as I dislike chicken and tend to actively avoid it. I don't know how they do for breakfast meals though. When mom makes bean soup it lasts for a while, though I think that's because she has a big crock pot, and we can't and won't eat bean soup for 2 weeks straight for every meal. It ends up in the freezer til we're ready for it again. I'll see if some of the ladies at the knit shop I work at can give me some recipes that they don't mind sharing. If I could I would make some meals and send it to you as I'm pretty awesome around the kitchen most days and it would take some pressure off your shoulders.

Light: Yeah, I get it a lot. It happens randomly. During periods, before periods, after periods.
I sometimes have to press against my hip when I have to use the bathroom because it hurts.
I guess I can tell my new doctor. But the other doctor said nothing was weird during my exam and the lady that did the ultrasound there didn't see anything either.

There were some nice guards. Surprisingly. This one kept joking with me, but I didn't know her, so I thought she was mean.
Also, they all would ask my age, I'd tell them, they wouldn't believe me ._.

Guard: Are you under 18 8u/
Me: I'm 29 u8
Guard: >> no, you're not.
Me: Don't shoot me \u,B/

Pfft, Yeah, ain't that a bitch? I know people break laws and do bad stuff to be put in there - but they don't become garbage and worthless.
Especially if their offenses aren't too horrible.

Yeah, actually ._.
It's pretty clear to people something is wrong with me.
I guess that makes me lucky xD;;
But my friend has really bad medical problems and I don't see how she can be in constant pain and struggle and just get told she's fine ._.

I've seen people say the dumbest things when it comes to mental illness. Especially depression.
"Why are you sad? You have nothing to be sad about!" or "Stop being depressed! At least you're not abused like other people!"
I even heard someone say "Depression is just the realization you can't get everything you want in life!"
That last one still irks me.
People with depression aren't spoiled brats that don't get their way.
