A thing I've read is to fill a small container of water, let it freeze, and then put a quarter on top. If it falls to a power outage to the bottom, everything in the freezer has thawed so in all likelihood it's bad
But that's only really a thing to worry about if you live somewhere that's regular with outages, imo
We get the occasionally, but most tend to be only for a handful of hours, nothing dangerous to the fridge or freezer. Surges, when the power blinks, are the second most common. The one we had that was about 50 hours of outage? Very rare, and when that happens, the outage is extremely widespread
So if all you get is the rare surge, you'll be fine
Oh, I like that trick! I'm going to use it.
I've only ever had jackfruit canned, never fresh, but I love Durian. I don't understand the way people describe the smell of it; to me it smells just like chicken salad. Well, unless you let it rot, which would just be foolish; everything smells bad when it rots. Then again, I usually keep the fresh Durian fruit frozen until I want to eat it, so...
