you can't always enjoy what you want to enjoy because of other people. maybe you can figure out what exactly she likes about them and find books that have that in common and offer them to her?

I'm halfway through my second to last book for the year. I think I might try to read a load of magazines I have stacked up once I'm finished, and keep some of my books for next year XD

might be a good idea!
My, Russian authors really have an issue with men slamming furniture, walls, doors, and other innocent inanimate objects with their fists. It’s the second (out of three) ladies writing their male characters like that. I wonder if men write the same stuff.

he's certainly a man but I don't think he counts XD
I'm afraid it's a romance thing. everyone does it so everyone else thinks they have to do it too. idk why else would there be so much of it. like "hm my male character is upset... hmm I guess they would react with aggression!"

I was talking about mystery recommendations too long and have started in to rereading some of the Whimsy books. Started with "Strong Poison" because of course.
I feel a little guilty for abandoning the library book stack, though.
But I did finish that J.D. Robb, and the frustratingly 1st-person-PoV one about the fairy official-Hero/P.I.
Ummmm what was it called? By Seanan McGuire. Bother. Interesting mish-mash of fae traditions all snuck in; mostly Gaelic/Celtic, but with a smattering of others....
Well, anyhow. Finished those two. Still need to read the Goblin Emperor, and Curse of the Pogo Stick, and Gilbert's "Into Battle", and "The Shape of Water", and probably there's more in there that I'm not remembering. Wait, I know there is. There's an Amanda Quick, for one, since we were mentioning romances earlier.
Oh well.
