It's a little reassuring to see someone else who has a jewish background; I know my family does things a little oddly and I'm always worried that my holiday descriptions will mislead people, since the details can be different. But you're here, so if my description of sukkhot is very different from the way you do it then you can speak up too and that will help!
My apologies for the late reply
It's been one thing after the other these days

but yea I'm a black jew so my family does things waaaaay differently
than most so I totally understand where you are coming from
we have the Feast of Weeks where we gather all of the harvest foods
and have a feast for the whole congregation
We have a sermon then lots of singing and prayer
and we welcome outsiders and ask that they be forgiven of sins
and be forgiven if they are unclean for they came to celebrate the holiday
for those who can't travel family members prepare food at home
or they bring back food from the feast for us to take part in

We also have Pentecost in the summer
(this is the biggest and most important feast that we have)
We have 12 holidays a year in total
[LittleJulez]
Exactly!
Religion is a very personal thing
and you don't want to force things on your kids
but you also don't want them fighting with you
about these things it just makes things difficult
especially you don't believe. In our religions most people
believe what they believe because they believe it to be
right or true or the "correct" way
Most people don't want their children following the
"incorrect" ways. So we teach them to respect others
but do what we feel to be right
It's nice that you're willing to show your kids other
religions and cultures
[Death Candy]
It's okay DC I know you didn't mean any harm ^w^

Black Jew as in you follow the Ethiopian Jewish culture? or a different heritage? I remember when I was younger there would be speakers come each week to teach a little Amharic so we could talk to the Ethiopian Jews who had managed to escape, only none of them ended up settling near us, and then we moved. So I never got to actually hear about the specifics. I've been curious ever since.

Seems like a lot of you are talking about movies for your Christian traditions, and that is such a recent thing, it makes me smile a little to see how quickly new traditions develop.

A Different Heritage. The Hebrew Israelites
There are different folks calling themselves Israelites
but they aren't the same as my congregation
We're a little different from most religions

Thank you SO much for the gifts T^T
That was so sweet
How do I even get items like this!?

Ah, different heritage, okay. I hope the music is good, that's some of my favorites, is the singing. So I hope you enjoy it too, whatever the melody differences. :)

You are very welcome for the gifts; thank you for your patience! I know I can get too inquisitive, but I never notice at the time, when it would be helpful, only afterwards. >.<
Those items are from the Living Empire shop; if you select it to show just the functional knuffel room items you'll find them much faster. There are a lot of room items to sort through now, otherwise!

Chrizine, I googled it and it doesn't say anything about German Nationalism, at least in wikipedia :D But it says that in Nürnberg there was a Christkind elected since 1933, a girl of about 16 years who travelled around franconia afterwards to bring joy :D

Icey, thank you, I really like the idea of giving my children the choice, if they want to.

Oh well thanks so much for the help ♥
And the music is sometimes really good
depending on the songs they sing
but tbh we used to have MUCH better
but some people in the choir left after some drama and it was sad
since then the music hasn't been the same
the little kids also sing by themselves so that's fun
[LittleJulez]
Same here
It's a delicate balance
I try not to think in a way that I'm forcing my beliefs on my child
but I need to try to teach them at least
so that she can make her own choices when she's older
Don't want to push too hard like my family did with me
My family was so worried about me being easily influenced by others
They tried to beat their beliefs into me mentally
and I believed already so the extra was unnecessary
even now we have differences because
I don't want to be preached at all the time
WE ARE ALREADY THE SAME RELIGION MOM!
WHY ARE YOU PREACHING AT ME!? xD

I also agree it is best to let your children know there is a choice. No one can force them to believe something they don't want to. :mccute:

My daughter believes in Santa Claus, but that's because of influence from home and school. And I don't plan to dis-sway her. It makes her happy and it makes me happy to pass on my tradition.

I just realized that "take out" means food, dating, and murder. And if you were a female praying mantis you'd have all three.
