3 hours is a lot if you ask me. Given that you also return that is 6 hours in a car. I should state that I have car sickness, so 6 hours in a car in 1 day is not something appealing to me to say the least. Maybe if I were to stay near the faire I would do it

It is a lot. I fortunately don't get car sickness. Unless I'm trying to read in the car, then I get a ton of nausea. Yuck.

I'm used to having to ride in the car for a long time. I live pretty far from most things. lol. It's generally at least a 30 minute drive to get anywhere.

I also do a lot of sleeping in the car.

I've never been to a renaissance fair. I have some friends that go yearly, but I'm always working it seems when they decide to go.

I also spend a lot of time sleeping in the car if I have that option. Problem is I can't if it's just me and the driver. I'm scared I'll induse the feeling and I want my driver up and concentrating on the road.
I'm thinking of getting my drivers license, since car sickness apparently doesn't apply to the driver, but I don't know. I don't really have distributive attention and driving in my city is pretty chaotic.

I've never wanted to be a driver and I'm getting a feeling I'm the only one XD When people get their first adult ID they want to 1, start drinking as much as possible, everything they can, and 2, get their driver's license. Which kind of contradicts one another, I just realized. Lol.
I never wanted to do any of those things. I live in a capital city and we already have too many cars while we have a perfectly fine public transport, one of the best in Europe. Going everywhere by car means traffic and no parking space, plus the air gets worse and worse.
The second thing is, I don't think I'd be able to focus enough on the road, I'd be a noob all my life, I think. There's so much going on, you have to pay attention to everything and I like to keep my head in the clouds. So if I'm going by car, I prefer to be a passanger, even if it gives me motion sickness. Which I think came back to me since I began using just metro, because now anytime I use a bus for longer than 20 minutes, I get so sick it's ridiculous. Not just in the tummy, but I get the sweats and dizziness and my arms and legs are like jello. I've never had it this severe, not that I can remember.
And also, i'm kind of scared of cars, the fact you can never feel safe is unnerving. You never know when somebody is a reckless driver. Even planes are safer, statistically speaking.

I don't want to get it, it's just that it comes in handy at times. For instance if I want to go visit my grandparents and grocery shopping, but in the city I really wouldn't use it. The parking alone is 2.5 euro per hour, not to mention gas and everything else that goes with a car. Those things are expensive and I am cheep.

But my dad really wants me to get it so he won't be the only driver in the family. Still thinking about it.

For me it wouldn't be a good investment. But if you'd use a car often to visit your granparents ... idk if it would be worth it in the long run.
I mean, grocery shopping by car would be great, but there's so much public transport to everywhere here that I feel it's not as necessary as it is more convenient, and just a bit :mcheh: Maybe where you live it would be more helpful?

I find some items to be really heavy. Like my cats litter sand. I can't hold it for more than 3 minutes. It's really heavy. And I also buy really big bags of detergent and such that are a pain to carry from the store even if the store is a 10 minutes walk from home. So for those I really need a car. But I usually find someone to take me or a man to carry them for me *hihi. So yeah, don't really need a car in the city personally, but sometimes it comes in handy. I do find myself dependent on some occasions cuz of it, so it's nice to know I have the option of driving

My closest public transportation is way too far for me to walk to. I can't walk much at all so car is basically the only viable transport for me. Though I can't really drive since I fall asleep a lot. It's not safe. So my husband does most of our driving.

Getting motion sickness on the bus sucks! Maybe you should get some ginger tea or something to help? Or if it's so bad that you're getting that many symptoms you might want to talk to a doctor about it. I know they make medicine for it.

In the USA we CAN get our driver's license at 18, but can't drink alcohol until 21. I think that gas is a lot cheaper here too. I'm not sure why.
