I probably could. Maybe I could find a little starter set and try it. See if it causes too much pain. I'm also worried that I would jab myself with the needle a lot? In addition to pain I get really intense numbness and shaking at times. My body is just all sorts of fucked up. lol.

Oh man, 6 hours of sewing sounds super intense. I bed you were crazy sore afterward. Poor thing.



Rubie - I recently saw this stand at the store that you could put your laptop on. I bed that would be super sturdy. And it looked like it was adjustable. I really want to get one because I use my laptop on the couch and it can be uncomfortable at times. (sitting in a chair for too long is very painful for me)

I crochet way too tight and my yarn is always cutting the circulation off to my finger. It really sucks. I should make a ring or something that goes around it where it doesn't cut off the circulation AND it doesn't burn my skin with all the rubbing.

Oh, now I'm curious. I have been looking for one of those over the chair tables since it will fit nicely in the corner of my reading room when I don't need to use it. The only store I've seen them at had them more for decorative function than use and were super fancy and expensive. I like to sit kind of weird sometimes and when I read I am all over my chair. It's smaller than a love seat, but two people can sit on it comfortably still, albeit, a little too close if you don't get along. I guess it's probably considered more of an oversized arm chair.

That was my problem the first time I was trying to learn to crochet. Second time I thought I learned my lesson, but ended up making my loops way too loose. I wonder if you couldn't find something specific for that. You must not be the only person.

jacobgrey - I love documentaries. I watch all kinds. Ones about animals, history, religion, cults. Anything that I find interesting. I find lots of things interesting.

Where would I get a dull needle? I guess I could try dulling one and then relegate it to embroidery duty. lol.



Rubie - Oh yah, sounds exactly like one I saw. It showed them sitting on the ground with it, having it on a sofa/chair, and set up on a table so you could stand while using it. I don't remember what it was called, but it was in the as seen on TV section. Those as seen on TV products are often things that were designed for disabled people to use, but since there's not a huge market for them, they put them on TV for people to buy.

I might be able to find something. I guess I could look it up.
I do think I saw something similar to what I'm thinking, but it was a little different.

I don't know if it is the same thing, but I want to see what it is now. Have you ever watched Barry Lewis on youtube where he tests kitchen gadgets? He has been putting a disclaimer at the beginning of his videos where he says many of the items are for people who are disabled, but some of them would be nice to own myself. My brother actually bought on of those easy choppers, where you set the vegetable on top of the slicer then press the top down. He says it's a life changer. I love the infomercials for as seen on tv products though! It's like cheesy extravagant acting is a must.

I had a rubber thimble (I could not find a metal one in the store for my life) because when I first started knitting I would cut one of my fingers open bad from the needle tip. Somehow I was being too aggressive when knitting and bent the needles tip to a sharp angle. I blame it for being a cheap needle (like $3 at Walmart). I now use better quality ones even though they cost more.

Ravelry has some good knit plushie patterns. I prefer crochet myself as it seems to conform better, but that doesn't mean that they can't be knit.

@light: I'm very proficient in all but the quilting and spinning. For the most part I just dabble with spinning and quilting is just because I LOVE making blankets of any kind, even if I don't need them. Everything else I make for a living or at least try to. I need to schedule a photo shoot day so that I get a lot of the stuff I have made on my Etsy account. I'm also waiting for a yarn shop owner to get back to me about selling my hand dyed at her shop.

@Rubie: I dye mostly yarn and silk scarves. Honestly it's like cooking. Once you've prepared everything and put in a pot, you could just leave it to simmer for a hour or so and do other things depending on what effect your going for. Hand-dyeing tends to need the most attention when dyeing as you have to man-handle the color into the yarn. Speckling is always an adventure as it sits in a thin layer of water and you just sprinkle dry dye on top. Kettle dyeing is the least hands on as that you just put the dye and fiber in the pot of hot water and let it sit for an hour.

My addiction to yarn is horrendous...It's actually overwhelming to think that since I'm moving in a month I have to pack it all.

Because I knit so tight, my fingers are always sort of sore, cracked or bleeding from the needles always being pushed into them to try and get a stitch off the needle. I have gotten better about that, but every now and then they find the sweet (sore) spots on my fingers...

They do have rings that people use during colorwork that basically keeps the yarn from wrapping around your fingers and suffocating them.

I haven't really looked at raverly. I have a free shawl pattern to try from there I got months ago to try. Mostly because I haven't really pushed myself to try and figure out my patterns. My little brain can't wrap around how one would knit a plushie. Crocheting them seems easier from my limited knowledge of how to crochet.

I never knew that's how they made the speckles. I follow a number of dyers on Instagram (guiltily the only people outside of a few friends) because I love looking at their yarn and they sometimes put up pictures saying something like dye day or something like that. I still feel like if I tried to do it myself I would mess it up. I actually had someone offer me raw yarn before (some friend of my mom's) but I never got her contact and it's not someone my mom really knows anymore. Also if you have any pictures of your yarns or socials where you post, I would be happy to stare at them. I really so just love pretty yarn.

I can only imagine since you also dye your own! Luckily when I moved last year I had just a few that I bought cheap at Walmart and my first purchase towards my yarn addiction. (My book addiction was a different story). But now it's kind of starting to get bad. I had one basket for it in my spare room I'm using as storage, but now they are one the floor, in another box. I like to get them out to just look at.

Luckily I have learned to loosen my loops up just enough now. I still have problems being consistent with tension and you can tell when I knit too tight too because I still got that problem.

I'm tempted to buy one of those. I tend to get hangnails from the yarn rubbing by my nail.

@Jacob: I was thinking about that when I was typing that. I guess it might be more for people who have shaking hands and not weak wrists. It would be good if you are trying to show off with uniformed cuts.

Oh that sounds nice. I think I know what you're talking about. My mom has bad arthritis and has an electric can opener she loves.
