@Sunlight: Saaame!  I sometimes look all over people's faces to not just stare them in the eyes all of the time. And then when I talk I fight myself to glance at the other person once every few words. It's also like making sure they're listening or if they understand what I'm trying to say.

I hardly ever make eye contact, especially when talking to someone. I can't do it. I've tried and it makes me uncomfortable. I'm also always asked if I'm angry or worried.

I am okay with eye contact but I'm much less good at it if I'm in a group (whose eyes do I have contact with? Everyone equally? How can I do that? Okay let's just look at the floor) or with a male person (Does he think I'm coming onto him? I'm never looking in his direction ever again).

In a group it's easier for me, I just generally look at the person who's speaking at the time, sometimes letting my eyes wander not to look creepy XD
Resting sad face here. I've always been "the sad girl". I'm just in my head though.
My BF often tells me I should smile more and that makes me go all warrior hamster at him: "I don't feel like smiling, why are you telling me to smile if I don't feel like it? Normal people don't just sit and smile for no reason, do you want me to look like a creep? Do you want me to smile all the time? It's physically impossible, you know" XD
I sometimes nod and/or confirm when people ask me something and I didn't hear what they said. It's weird because my hearing is way too good, I hear the tiniest noises and they piss me off. But when I'm talking to someone I suddenly turn deaf and if I don't hear what they'r esaying I'll ask like a dozen times and still not get it so I just nod and confirm whatever they said xD I'm learning to ask for repetitions though, otherwise it might lead to misunderstandings and that I don't like.

One of my pet hats is when people tell you to smile. Or they say "cheer up, it might never happen".
Like, fuck you, Greg. You don't know me. What if I'm sitting here looking sad because all of my family members died, my house burned down, I just found out I have terminal cancer, and my pet dog got run over? What am I supposed to be waiting for to happen?
I used to get told that all the time when I volunteered as crowd safety. I was generally not smiling because I was concentrating on doing my job and tracking individuals in the crowd that might cause a problem. I don't have time to humour you with a freaking smile.

It's just idiotic to tell someone to show emotion they don't feel. Plus I might be internally happy without the need to smile all the time. You never know what's going on in somebody's life and you just assume all of their problems would vanish if the person just smiled? What if that person is depressed and they feel even worse about not meeting everybody's expectations to do as simple a thing as a smile? It's stupid and pointless and ignorant, that's what it is.
