That's really interesting o_O
I was never....Well, I take that back - I was forced to learn the bible and stuff because I went to a Christian school.
Funny thing is, they wanted us to read the bible and memorize verses, but they never once taught us what they meant.
My dad had to tell me what they meant - my school just wanted us to recite them for a grade.

I know nothing about the Olympics and gods 8u
Do tell if it's not a lot of trouble.

We did a little cleaning yesterday and I think it's gonna work out good for him.
It's a big place.
I thought it'd be small since it was a duplex, but it's a big house attached to another big house o_O
I'm worried about the location, though because the house had a ton of locks on it, but the neighborhood seems quiet and a few people are moving in on that block so it doesn't seem too bad.
He's right down the street from a grocery store which is good because they sell food and gas and his job is only a few minutes away.
He does live by a funeral home too.
I was joking about ghost kids, which my dad is apparently scared of 8u

Nah, the funny thing is, they make us learn all this stupid detail about Greek mythology and about how Zeus fucked his sisters and basically just anything that had boobs and he liked doing it in all sorts of animal forms but our educatin program doesn't include slavian mythology, not even one class or something despite us being effing slavian. Because it's pagan. Oh yeah, because Greek mythology SO isn't pagan and we're SUCH a catholic country OMG xD Our educational system is ridiculous that way.

I literally can't believe you never learned about Zeus, or Hades or anything :D You must've at least heard the names: Hera (Zeus's wife and sister), Demeter (Zeus's sister), Mercury, Aphrodite, Persephone (Zeus and Demeter's daughter/niece), Hercules (technically he's a hero, not a god and I can't remember if he ever made it to the Olympus mountain), Athena? for example Gaia is a Greek mythology name, it's the proto-goddess, mother-earth. Uranos was the sky-father if I remember correctly.
Oh, if you've ever watched Disney's Hercules, it lies about his parentage XD

Well, if it's quiet there, maybe the previous owner were paranoid or something? I wouldn't really be that worried about an amount of locks on the door. They're there to keep the door closed and people inside safe :)
Overal it sounds like a really good localization.

Oh, I know about Zeus >xD
Yeah, it's not like their pagan beliefs fucked everyone under the sun 8u

I know a little bit about them because of the Disney movie Hercules and the tv series Hercules but as you pointed out, it's flawed 8u

The previous owners were an elderly couple. They most likely moved somewhere else like a nursing home or with relatives.
But he does live by a funeral home, so maybe they moved there.
Oh, I'd have 50 locks on my door if I could because I'm paranoid xD
But the ACs are also chained in so no one can steal them ._.

We took him some food last night and it was dark and quiet. I asked him if he's seen any ghost kids yet and he said no, but he hears shit a lot there.
Then when we left, it was dark and quiet and I creeped myself out 8u

Glad I could make you laugh. Possibly. 8u

Funeral homes are always so nice. I've been to so many and it's really peaceful there, despite so many dead people being there and people crying.

@Moi: then you know Zeus was the highest god on Olympus, he was throwing lightnings and stuff. He married his sister Hera (goddess of women, mothers, wifes, labor etc.) but kept on cheating on her, for example with Hercules's mother (who was a queen, btw) and Hera was so jealous she decided to torment Hercules for his whole life, because we all know it's the child's fault, not the unfaithful father's xD Hades had nothing to do with this. But it was a nice movie plot :)
While we're on Hades, Zeus's brother, god of the dead and underworld, he married Kora-Persephone, who was the only daughter of Zeus and Demeter (another one of their sisters). He actually kidnapped her and Demeter, who was the goddess of harvest etc.) was miserable so every plant on earth was dying. I think she found out Hades took her daughter and she went to complain to Zeus and what he decided was Kora-Persephone would stay for one half of the year with her (now) husband (and double uncle, ew), Hades in the underworld and the other half she'd stay with her mother. That's the myth about seasons.
There was of course also Poseidon, their brother, god of the ocean etc. And also they had another sister, Hestia, goddess of home and security (basically). I don't really know any myths about those two.
But Athena for example was only Zeus's daughter as one day he just had a headache and she jumped out of his head XD She's the goddess of wisdom.
Ooh, I think Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera, he was the god of war. Had an affair with Aphrodite, goddess of romantic love who was the wife of Hephaestus, god of blacksmithing, craft etc, also he had a limp because one day Zeus and Hera were fighting and Hephaestus stood on his mother's side so Zeus went all rage and threw him off the Olympus, I think Aphrodite might've been an "apology"? Not sure. anyways, Aphrodite and Ares had a child, Eros, god of sexual love.
I could go on but this is getting long xD

what do you mean your dad hears shit a lot in there? Like noises? Or do you mean gossip?

I've only been to a funeral home thrice maybe. I don't think I can share your enthusiasm xD

Oh. I forgot to mention I know about them from the God of War games xD
But Jesus Christ that's so much fuckery 8u
Literally.

I guess it's noises. I know our house - you can hear everything outside. I guess because it's got no insulation in the walls. I hear people walking and talking from down the street.

I've been to so many funeral homes. Well, they're the same 3-4 we have here, but I've been to them numerous times.
I will go to sign the book, but I don't like funerals.
My grandma was Catholic, and I went to her...thingy and people were reciting the things they do and I had no idea how to do it so I just stood there like an idiot 8u
I don't think Catholics have the same thing as non-Catholics...Is it called a wake?
They recite things about Mary and stuff and I didn't know the words xD;
But I know my grandma wouldn't care that I'm an idiot 8,u
I actually found out a lot of stuff about her that I didn't know.
Like how she kicked a Nazi who came to take her grandpa away and he almost shot her but didn't and that I had family in concentration camps.
To me, my grandma was really quiet and delicate, but apparently she wasn't because my mom and dad said she would cuss my grandpa out with all kinds of cuss words.
I was like "GRANDMA! UB"

I love Greek mythology, it is very interesting! I cannot tell you where I got my knowledge from though. I think it's mostly movies and TV and when I was interested I read up on the gods.
I had to know a bit about them at work, too as we have some stucco statues representing the Gods. I always confuse the Greek and Roman names though.

It's a pity they did not teach you about Slavic stories..

@Moi: See? I knew you'd know them XD Greek mythology is the most popular so there's tons of references in pop culture. It's a given everybody knows something about the basic pantheon gods ;)
And yeah, Zeus had it going XD

Wow, from the street? That's insane! :mcomg: Walls should be much thicker than that ;_;

I'm proud to say I'm forgetting how all the prayers go. I'm so sick of remembering them all my life. I used to be the best at religion in my class. Not that it was difficult but my granny is a zealot and she was feeding me with religious stuff my whole childhood and I memorised all the prayers with ease because I already knew them from her. And yes, we had to recite prayers to pass religion.

I recently found out some dirt in my family. I'd rather forget mom told me...

@Julez: In Poland it's mandatory to read at least the most important myths. And I was genuinely interested in them so I read more than the mandatory parts xD But most people don't remember shit.
I always remember the Romans used to call the main pantheon by the planet names. But then some further names I might mix up, tho usually I get them right.

Yeah, they're mostly forgotten, rooted out by christianity. Very little is known about the Slavic pantheon, there's mostly speculations. And then we have some information about Slavic demons and other capricious spirits that are easily angered. From what I could read there's very few positive entities we know of, mostly they're either evil or ambivalent. I suppose our kowledge about Slavic mythology is contaminated. The most positive traditions were adopted into the new beliefs and others were demonized.
It just pisses me off that we literally HAVE to lear about cultures of other nations jsut because they're very influential but we don't learn about our own heritage because the church wouldn't admit they forced the faith on our people centuries ago. It's how things work with religion, grow up and let us learn our history :mcmeh:

It's like....superficial knowledge. I know of them and mostly what they did, but I don't know enough to explain it to someone else 8u

Yup - we can hear people walking and talking outside.
I really want a new house with central heat and air.
We have to rely on gas heaters and window ACs.
The house is so old and really needs a makeover, but we couldn't afford that.

It's funny because I grew up in a Christian school where they taught us the bible and made us memorize verses, but they never taught us the New Testament and never taught us what the verses meant.
All you had to do was memorize words, recite them and then forget them.
It seems like that'd be the opposite of what they'd want.
They didn't care xD
The only time they taught us about Jesus was when he was born and when he died.
They told us bits and pieces of his life and what he did - but they didn't teach us about him.

Well, that's always fun. Learning bad things about family members.
It's like....you should know but should you really xD?
