my parents cancelled our wedding without telling us. We only found out because the council reached out to ask us if we'd like to change our legal documents to a new venue.

hahahaha welp. Anyway. At least we can just get the fuck on with it and get married now, and do it without owing them any money.

I guess not? I tried to look up what they were doing right now but my dad has also unfriended me on Facebook (lol what teenage girl pettiness is that).
But yeah, I'm good. I was wanting to cancel it, but I was going to wait until about a month before so we could cancel for covid reasons and get them a full refund, just so they couldn't ever hold it over us. But I guess they screwed themselves with that. And now I don't have to worry about ever talking to them again, which is a plus.
Also, J's mum is being such a sweetheart to me lately that, like. I'm basically getting a new family instead and I'm cool with it. She sends me messages about books that I might want to read so she can lend me them, and gives us cakes every time J visits them, and actually congratulates me on my achievements and supports me :qh:

Wow. That is... something. Good riddance. How did they even start out paying for the wedding and then cancel without telling you? That seems like a harsh turn of events.
Actually I'm not sure I want to know because it's probably infuriating.
I am very glad you have such a supportive family through J! Looking towards the future without such pettiness and with a supportive family is going to be much better.

I just cannot imagine being such a dick.
...Though I guess my dad is not talking to my brother's fiancé over soup. Maybe pettiness just runs in old men.

Haha! Yeah, well, in a nutshell: my mother was trying to run the whole show and had basically booked the venue she preferred, bought the dress she wanted me to have, chosen the musicians without even telling me, and so on, and we argued a lot of times about it. At Christmas when I visited them it flew up into a serious row again and I told her, multiple times giving her multiple chances, and very calmly and clearly, that I couldn't carry on being around her if she wouldn't stop deliberately invoking arguments and being negative about everything I said. (I have fibro which is triggered badly by stress, so I laid out the fact that every time she did this she was basically making me sick for the short term AND shortening my lifespan... yeah, she just rolled her eyes and laughed when I said that). But she wouldn't stop and she even kept escalating it, then my dad joined in and made it worse, and even when I got to a point of hysterically begging them to leave me alone they just continued yelling in my face. So I just shut myself into a room away from them, called J, he came and picked me up, and we haven't seen each other since then.
We have spoken a few times via text or email and things were starting to get civil again, but then she was just calling J up weekly to yell at me second-hand about me and I couldn't be doing with that anymore. Given that she would yell at him every time I sent her a message I just stopped sending them, and she's never tried to contact me since. Not even for the date that would originally have been our wedding, not to check that I've been safe through the whole covid situation that I'm at high risk for, nothing. So, screw it, this has been a long time coming.

And guess what? My overall stress levels have been a LOT lower this year. Global pandemic going on, busier than ever with work to the point I've been working seven-day weeks of 13-hour days, and yet, lowest stress levels that I can remember. Go figure :'D My health is slowly coming back and I have everything I need in terms of support and love. All it took was to not have parents anymore :qhehe:

I'm sorry you've had to go through so much trouble lately and I'm glad you're feeling better.

Weddings in general seem so stressful.
But I always wanted to get married and have a cool wedding.
But like...I have no interest in being with anyone.

Honestly, it would be cool to have a partner have fun with me like that.
Someone who has the same interests and supports me.
But I completely lack any physical interests.
Like I don't even like hugs xD

@jacob, I just want to say (apart from that I'm sorry your parents did this to you) I'm super happy for you that this negative turns out into a positive and I'm honestly so proud of you for standing your ground and fighting for your own peace. I can't express it well enough, you're a lioness :qh:

@Moi: Lol, yeah, I've been using some cool gel for the burns, then once I used my regular face cream with some UV filter because I thought it can't be that bad anymore... boy, was I wrong... :mcargh:
