They’ve got the POWAHHHH.

Omphhh been puttering around the kitchen for half the day, getting ready for dinner since my sister’s bf is coming over lol. Like trying to do three things at once in our already small kitchen with my mom lol.

Uh. Lots of food? Her bf is a nurse and he’s also an exercise junkie so he takes in aloooot of meat lol. So we had beef brisket(?), pork belly, chicken, abalone with vermicelli and shiitake mushrooms, broccoli and then two types of ice cream for dessert. 8U my mom and I had to start cooking YESTERDAY because most of these dishes take ALOT of time to prepare and we wouldn’t have been able to do it all in one day. 8U the bf gets the royal treatment when he comes over, his favourite food is pork belly so my mom always tries to make it when he comes over.

At one point, I had to oversee boiling the broccoli, checking on the chicken in the air fryer/conventional oven AND stuffing eggplant with leftover raw shredded meat from yesterday (I was stuffing shredded meat into tofu skins yesterday for dinner and we didn’t want the meat to go bad so we used the leftover meat to stuff some eggplant. We didn’t eat the stuff eggplant today, it’s for TOMORROW).

You start cooking a day early because of him? That's royal treatment indeed!

I mean, I batch cook. I'm boiling chickpeas as I write this - so they are ready for tomorrow's lunch. But that's it.
Several dishes which require cooking in advance, that's something I would only do for christmas.

Twice a year is enough to make it special and enjoyable.
Everytime certain guest visits seems like a pain in the ass.

If I had to cook like that for someone, I would hate him so much!

Yeah because the homemade foods we made require a lot of preparation. Especially foods like the pork belly and beef brisket lol. The reason my mom has to start cooking the day before is to relieve the stress of cooking it all at once. She has high blood pressure and she gets stressed if she has to cook such long preparation foods. Hence the reason she started a day early lol.

But yeah such food preparations should be reserved for special dates lol.
