@jacob: Ooh, if you've been having them for about 24 hours then he could be really soon. My sister has had first cramps around that time and then they became more frequent, more regular and more painful.

@Moi: I think length of labour depends on how you measure the time. If we're counting the first cramps, even irregular, it might even be like my grandma used to say "I was giving birth to your mom for 48 hours straight!" XD The pushing is in the very last stage of labour and it takes a while to get to that, so usually the medical staff tells people to wait until the contractions get regular and very frequent before they go to the hospital.
I'm not sure how long the pushing can take but even 20 or 30 minutes sounds like a whole lot of time for that kind of work. I saw videos of my sister just moments after my nephew was already out and she was exhausted. Then her husband asked her if she's happy and she said "Idk, I'm still in shock" XD
